''Men Against the Sun'' is a 1952 British historical adventure film directed by Brendan J. Stafford and starring John Bentley and Zena Marshall. It depicts the attempts to construct a railway in late Victorian Africa. It was shot on location in Kenya. Kenya Colony
The Colony and Protectorate of Kenya, commonly known as British Kenya or British East Africa, was part of the British Empire in Africa. It was established when the former East Africa Protectorate was transformed into a British Crown colony in 1920. Technically, the "Colony of Kenya" referred to the interior lands, while a 16 km (10 mi) coastal strip, nominally on lease from the Sultan of Zanzibar, was the "Protectorate of Kenya", but the two were controlled as a single administrative unit. In its original usage, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the term more precisely identified films intended for distribution as the less-publicized bottom half of a double feature (akin to B-sides for recorded music). With the emergence of commercial television at that time, film studio B movie production departments changed into television film production divisions.
