Memorial Ground, Finchampstead
The Memorial Ground (also known as Finchampstead Park) is a cricket ground in Finchampstead, Berkshire, England. The ground is located at the northern end of the village and is part of a wider sporting complex. History Appearing on maps as early as 1930, Berkshire County Cricket Club, Berkshire first played there against Buckinghamshire County Cricket Club, Buckinghamshire in the 1982 Minor Counties Championship. List A cricket was first played at the ground in the 1988 NatWest Trophy when Berkshire played Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Yorkshire, with their first-class cricket, first-class opponents winning by 10 wickets. The ground was a venue for the 1993 Women's Cricket World Cup, 1993 Women's World Cup, hosting a single match between England women's cricket team, England Women and India women's cricket team, India Women, which England won by 3 runs. Finchampstead is a village and civil parish in the Wokingham Borough in the shire of Berkshire, England. Its northern extremity is south of Wokingham, west of Bracknell, south-east of Reading, and west of Central London. It is an affluent area, with the village ranking as Britain's 31st wealthiest. It has a high standard of living and is rated as one of the most desirable places to live in the United Kingdom. Shropshire County Cricket Club is one of twenty minor county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Shropshire. The team is a member of the Minor Counties Championship Western Division and plays in the MCCA Knockout Trophy. Philip Oxley
Philip John Oxley (born 7 April 1965) is a former English cricketer. Oxley was a right-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born at Reading, Berkshire, Reading, Berkshire. Oxley made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Berkshire County Cricket Club, Berkshire in 1988 against Oxfordshire County Cricket Club, Oxfordshire. From 1988 to 1995, he represented the county in 50 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which came in the 1995 Championship when Berkshire played Cornwall County Cricket Club, Cornwall. Oxley also played in the MCCA Knockout Trophy for Berkshire. His debut in that competition came in 1990 when Berkshire played Buckinghamshire County Cricket Club, Buckinghamshire. Carl Hooper
Carl Llewelyn Hooper (born 15 December 1966) is a former Guyanese cricketer who captained the West Indies in Tests and ODIs. An all-rounder, he was a right-handed batsman and off-spin bowler, who came to prominence in the late 1980s in a side that included such players as Gordon Greenidge, Desmond Haynes, Malcolm Marshall and Courtney Walsh and represented the West Indies over a 16-year international career. Playing career Rise in ranks Hooper first represented the West Indies at youth level and eventually became a regular for Guyana in senior regional tournaments. He later captained Guyana to triumphantly claim three regional List A titles in 1996, 1999 and 2002. In cricket, a batter is not out if they come out to bat in an innings and have not been dismissed by the end of an innings. The batter is also ''not out'' while their innings is still in progress. Occurrence At least one batter is not out at the end of every innings, because once ten batters are out, the eleventh has no partner to bat on with so the innings ends. Usually two batters finish not out if the batting side declares in first-class cricket, and often at the end of the scheduled number of overs in limited overs cricket. Batters further down the batting order than the not out batters do not come out to the crease at all and are noted as ''did not bat'' rather than ''not out''; by contrast, a batter who comes to the crease but faces no balls is ''not out''. Field hockey is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with ten outfield players and a goalkeeper. Teams must drive a round hockey ball by hitting it with a hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal. The match is won by the team that scores the most goals. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Championship Western Division Two and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy.
