Members of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly who served in the 18th parliament of New South Wales held their seats between 1898 and 1901. They were elected at the 1898 colonial election on 27 July 1898. The Speaker was Sir Joseph Abbott until 12 June 1900 and then William McCourt. By-elections Under the constitution, ministers were required to resign to recontest their seats in a by-election when appointed. These by-elections are only noted when the minister was defeated; in general, he was elected unopposed. New South Wales Legislative Assembly
The New South Wales Legislative Assembly is the lower of the two houses of the Parliament of New South Wales, an Australian state. The upper house is the New South Wales Legislative Council. Both the Assembly and Council sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. The Assembly is presided over by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The Assembly has 93 members, elected by single-member constituency, which are commonly known as seats. Voting is by the optional preferential system. Members of the Legislative Assembly have the post-nominals MP after their names. From the creation of the assembly up to about 1990, the post-nominals "MLA" (Member of the Legislative Assembly) were used. Condoublin was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales from 1894 to 1901, in the Condobolin area. History Prior to 1894 the town, then known as Condoublin, was part of the district of Forbes, which returned two members. Multi-member constituencies were abolished in the 1893 redistribution, resulting in the creation of 76 new districts, including Condoublin. Forbes was abolished and largely divided between the new district of Condoublin and the recreated district of The Lachlan, with the remainder going to Cobar. Condoublin also absorbed part of the abolished district of The Bogan. Darlington was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, named after the inner Sydney suburb of Darlington. It was first created in 1894 and abolished in 1904. History Prior to 1894 the suburb of Darlington was part of the Redfern which returned four members. Multi-member constituencies were abolished in the 1893 redistribution, resulting in the creation of 76 new districts, including Darlington. Redfern was reduced in size and parts were given to the new districts of Darlington and Waterloo. The district was proposed to be called Redfern West, before the name Darlington was chosen. The suburb was regarded as a slum and was the most densely populated suburb of Sydney. Electoral District Of Bega
Bega is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales. It is represented by Michael Holland of the Labor Party. Bega is a regional electorate in the southeastern corner of the state. It encompasses the entirety of Bega Valley Shire and Eurobodalla Shire. Its population centres include Bega, Tathra, Merimbula, Eden, Bemboka, Eurobodalla Shire, Moruya, Batemans Bay and Narooma. St Leonards was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales, created in 1859, partly replacing Sydney Hamlets, and named after the Sydney suburb of St Leonards, which then included North Sydney, its main settlement. It extended from North Sydney to Broken Bay, including the Northern Beaches. It elected one member from 1859 to 1882, two members from 1882 to 1889 and three members from 1889 to 1894.
