Melvin White (American Football)
Melvin O'Key White (born June 26, 1990) is an American football cornerback. He is known for having played with the St. Louis Rams and Carolina Panthers. He played college football at Louisiana. His younger brother plays basketball for USC-Upstate. Currently he works for Railserve, Inc at Dow plant B in Freeport, TX as a brakeman. High school career A native of Freeport, Texas, White attended Brazosport High School, where he was a two-sport star in both football and track. In high school football, football, he played first as a wide receiver and then as a quarterback for coach Brian Welch, and was a second-team All-district selection as a junior. Cornerback
A cornerback (CB) is a member of the defensive backfield or secondary in gridiron football. Cornerbacks cover receivers most of the time, but also blitz and defend against such offensive running plays as sweeps and reverses. The New Orleans Bowl is an NCAA-sanctioned post-season college football bowl game that has been played annually since 2001. It is normally held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans; when the Superdome and the rest of the city suffered damage due to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the game was temporarily moved to Cajun Field in Lafayette, Louisiana, and given the name New Orleans Bowl at Lafayette. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university.
