Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the Games. They were due to be held from 31 July – 9 August 2020, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021, with the track and field events set for 30 July – 8 August. The sport of athletics at these Games was split into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, remaining in Tokyo, and road running events and racewalking events, moved to Sapporo. The 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held from 4 to 7 March 2021 at the Arena Toruń in Toruń, Poland. This was the second time this event was held in Poland after the 1975 edition in Katowice. The four-day competition featured 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events. The men's triple jump at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Olympic Stadium on 7 and 10 August. Summary In the first round of the final, Alexis Copello (Azerjaijan) was the first over 17 metres with a jump of 17.16 metres, and Will Claye (USA) took the lead with a 17.54 metre jump. In the second round, Nelson Évora (Portugal) moved into silver medal position, until Christian Taylor (USA) took the lead with a 17.57 metre jump. That lasted until Claye's next jump, 17.63 metres, which Taylor answered with a effort. None of the leaders were able to improve in the last three rounds.
