Melville De Lloyd
Melville De Lloyd (2 April 1917 – May 1985) was a Welsh rugby union, and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. He played club level rugby union (RU) for Resolven RFC and Llanelli RFC, and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Warrington, Wakefield Trinity, and Keighley, as a . Background Mel De Lloyd was born in Resolven, Wales, and he died aged 68 in Margate, Kent. Playing career International honours Mel De Lloyd won a cap for Wales (RL) while at Warrington in 1945. Resolven
Resolven ( cy, Resolfen) is a small village and community in Neath Port Talbot county borough, Wales. It is located in the Vale of Neath. Location The village is situated in the Vale of Neath, north east of the town of Neath, next to the A465 ''Heads of Valleys'' Road, and is the main settlement in the community of Resolven. Together with the community of Clyne and Melincourt, the village makes up the Resolven electoral ward. The community includes the settlements of Rheola, Abergarwed, and Ynysarwed. History and amenities In the immediate surrounding areas there are a number of industrial sites, which have become somewhat run down during the 1980s and 1990s. The popular Rheola indoor market was located near the village on the site of an old industrial factory, but has since moved from Rheola and now resides in the old TRW Steering Systems building. 1936–37 Northern Rugby Football League Season
The 1936–37 Rugby Football League season was the 42nd season of rugby league football. Season summary Salford won their third Championship after beating Warrington 13-11 in the play-off final. Salford had also finished the regular season as league leaders. The Challenge Cup winners were Widnes who beat Keighley 18-5 in the final. Acton and Willesden were replaced by Newcastle. Streatham and Mitcham disbanded after playing 26 matches, its remaining 12 matches were recorded as forfeits to their opponents. Salford won the Lancashire League, and Leeds won the Yorkshire League. Salford beat Wigan 5–2 to win the Lancashire County Cup, and York beat Wakefield Trinity 9–2 to win the Yorkshire County Cup. Cougar Park
Cougar Park is a rugby league stadium in Keighley, England, which is the home stadium of the Keighley Cougars. Its capacity is 7,800 people. It also hosted a match during the 1995 Rugby League World Cup. From 1899 until 1995, it was known as ''"Lawkholme Lane"''. Football has also played at the ground, Silsden F.C. had played their home matches at the venue between 2003 and 2010. and Steeton A.F.C. played at the ground in 2018 and 2019. History Keighley Rugby Football Club was formed on 17 October 1876 and was allowed the use of a field in Lawkholme Lane. On 18 November 1876, the first game took place at Lawkholme Lane. 1943–44 Northern Rugby Football League Wartime Emergency League Season
The 1943–44 Northern Rugby Football Union season was the fifth season of the rugby league’s 'Wartime Emergency League necessitated by the Second World War. As in the previous (fourth) Wartime season, the clubs each played a different number of games, but this season clubs re-joined the league and there were now 16 of the original clubs taking part in the Competition (but still only Oldham, St Helens and Wigan from west of the Pennines).
