''Meltdown'' is a remix album by Australian rock synthpop band, Icehouse with tracks remixed by Australian electronic musicians and bands including Infusion, sonicanimation and beXta. It was released in October 2002 within Australia by dIVA Records (Icehouse founder Iva Davies' own label) under Warner Music Australia. The single "Lay Your Hands on Me" (Icehouse Vs. Speed Of Light) peaked at #85 on the Australian singles chart. The album was re-released, in 2004 by Rock Up label / Star Records, as ''Street Cafe'' or more fully ''Street Cafe and Other Remixed Hits'' with a slightly different track order and different cover art (see infobox below right). Icehouse (band)
Icehouse are an Australian Rock music, rock band, formed in Sydney in 1977 as Flowers. Initially known in their homeland for their Pub rock (Australia), pub rock style, the band later achieved mainstream success playing New wave music, new-wave and synth-pop music and attained Top 10 singles chart success locally and in both Europe and the U.S. The mainstay of both Flowers and Icehouse has been Iva Davies (singer-songwriter, record producer, guitar, bass, keyboards, oboe) supplying additional musicians as required. The name "Icehouse", adopted in 1981, comes from an old, cold flat Davies lived in and the strange building across the road populated by itinerant people. Rate Your Music (often abbreviated to RYM) is an online collaborative database of music releases and films. Users can catalog items from their personal collection, review them, and assign ratings in a five-star rating system. The site also features community-based charts that track highest-rated releases. History Rate Your Music was founded on December 24, 2000, by Seattle resident Hossein Sharifi, who is still active on the site under the username "sharifi". The first version of the site, "RYM 1.0," allowed users to rate and catalog releases, as well as to write reviews, create lists and add artists and releases to the database. Over time, other features were added, like cover art, a forum section and private messaging. DJ Pee Wee Ferris
Peewee Ferris is a DJ from Sydney. Ferris began mixing at an early age, being inspired by his older brothers Stephen and John who are also DJs. Ferris has headlined numerous events including the Big Day Out and Ministry of Sound and the Australian tours of The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Primal Scream, and Cream Tour, Godskitchen, Stereosonic, Future Music Festival, and many more. He has ranked highly in various dance magazine polls, gaining worldwide exposure and thus gaining work through Asia, Europe and Africa. "Icehouse" is a song by the Australian rock band Flowers, later known as Icehouse. It was released as a single in Europe in 1982 by Chrysalis Records from the band's first album, ''Icehouse'', after the band changed its name to Icehouse. In the United States, the song peaked at number 28 on the ''Billboard'' Top Tracks chart in 1981. "Icehouse" was written by founding member Iva Davies when he lived at 18 Tryon Road, Lindfield in an old, cold flat of a two-storey mansion—across the street was a dishevelled house which had its lights on all night peopled by short-term residents. Davies only learned that it was a half-way house for psychiatric and drug rehab patients after he wrote the song. Russell Mulcahy, an expatriate Australian living in London, directed the music video for "Icehouse". "Can't Help Myself" is the first single released by the Australian synthpop/rock band Flowers, later known as Icehouse. It was released in May 1980 as a 7" vinyl single on independent label, Regular Records, five months ahead of debut album ''Icehouse''. A 10" vinyl single was released in July and had a cover depicting individual images of band members diagonally across the band's name and the single's title (see infobox at right middle). It peaked at #10 on the Australian Singles Charts. NOTE: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1974 until ARIA created their own charts in mid-1988. "Electric Blue" is a song by the Australian rock / synthpop band Icehouse. It was co-written by Iva Davies of Icehouse and John Oates of the U.S. band Hall & Oates. The resulting collaboration produced this song and Oates has stated that if Davies had not released the song under the Icehouse name then it would have been a Hall and Oates track. Endorphin (Australian Band)
Endorphin is the stage name of Eric Chapus (born ca. 1962, Saint-Tropez, France), an electronic act and music teacher. Since 1984 he has lived in Australia originally at Kuranda, where he started his musical career. He has released six studio albums, ''Embrace'' (1998), ''Skin'' (1999), '' AM:PM'' (2001), ''Seduction'' (2003), '' Shake It...'' (2004) and '' Soon After Silence'' (2007). Wicked Beat Sound System
Wicked Beat Sound System is a Sydney based group whose sound is best described as a mixture of electronica, dub and soul. The group formed in 1992, following a series of live "jams" instigated by DJ Dave Carnovale (Crucial D) in collaboration with Damian Robinson and other DJs Scott Pullen and Mark Walton which took place at the Bentley Bar c. 1991 in Sydney's Darlinghurst area. They have released five albums to date. Originally featuring reggae and hip hop, the group expanded their sound to incorporate elements of soul, jazz, Latin, funk and breaks. They have been nominated for three ARIA Music Awards and an Australian Dance Music Award as well as creating dozens of remixes for others.
