Melody Teo
Melody Teo (born 2 July 1991) is a Singaporean netball player who represents Singapore internationally since 2008 and plays in the positions of goal keeper, goal defense or wing defense. She was part of the Singaporean squad at the 2019 Netball World Cup, which was also her first World Cup appearance. Melody was also a member of the Singaporean contingent which bagged silver at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. Netball
Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. However, the sport is the result of Clara Baer's misinterpretation of its rules. Baer had asked James Naismith, the Canadian inventor of basketball, to send her a copy of the rules, and Baer's errors resulted in what marked the beginning of the development of a separate sport. Asian Netball Championships
The Asian Netball Championship is a netball competition held every two years with teams from across Asia competing. First 7 editions were held every four years, then changed to every two years starting from 2012. Sri lanka is the reigning champion of the tournament and also the most successful team, having won the Asian Netball Championships 6 times. Singapore has 3 championships and Malaysia has two. From the first edition of the tournament held in 1985, Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia dominated the tournament by always finishing within the top three. The 2019 Six Nations Cup (for sponsorship reasons) also known as 2019 M1 Nations Cup was the thirteenth edition of the Singaporean Nations Cup was held in OCBC Arena from 20–26 October 2019. The tournament featured six nations including hosts Singapore, defending champions Cook Islands along with Botswana, Ireland, Papua New Guinea and Namibia.
