Melodifestivalen 2008
Melodifestivalen 2008 was the 47th Melodifestivalen, and the selection process for the 48th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. A new rule—''Lex Agnes''—went into effect in 2008 calling for each submitted entry to include a document containing all information relevant to the song. It was named after Agnes Carlsson, who was disqualified from the 2007 competition for publicly revealing details of her song before the deadline. Format Melodifestivalen 2008 included 32 songs split up into four heats with eight participants in each. The heats were held between 9 February and 1 March 2008 and at each, the two top placing songs went to the final, while the third and fourth place songs went to the Andra Chansen (Second Chance Round). At the Andra Chansen, held on 8 March 2008, the eight songs paired off in two rounds with the two winners at the end of the night qualifying for the final. Ants Robert ''Kristian'' Luuk, (born 14 June 1966) is a Swedes, Swedish comedian and television presenter. He has presented several shows such as ''Sen kväll med Luuk'', ''Melodifestivalen'' and ''På spåret''. He was married to Carina Berg. Biography Early life Kristian Luuk's parents come from Estonia, and the first few years in Sweden the family lived in Sätra in Stockholm, but in 1970 the family moved to Skärholmen. His father worked for IBM, and during three years at the end of the 1970s the family lived in California, USA. Cloetta Center
Saab Arena, formerly named Cloetta Center between 2004–2014, is an arena in Linköping, Sweden. It opened in September 2004 and holds 8,500 people during sport events and 11,500 during concerts. On its opening, it became the new home ice for the ice hockey team Linköpings HC, replacing Stångebro Ishall. The arena has hosted a Melodifestivalen semi-final five times: in 2005, 2008, 2011, 2017 and 2020. "Line of Fire" is a song performed by E-Type and The Poodles at Melodifestivalen 2008, participating in the first semifinal in Gothenburg. Ending up third, the song went further to Andra chansen ni Kiruna on 8 March 2008, participating against Sibel Redzep's '' That is Where I'll Go'', ending up knocked out. The Poodles
The Poodles were a glam metal/ heavy metal band from Sweden, formed by singer Jakob Samuel (a.k.a. Jake Samuels), bassist Pontus Egberg, guitarist Pontus Norgren and drummer Christian Lundqvist. Their songs include "Metal Will Stand Tall" and "Night of Passion", the latter of which was performed in 2006 in Melodifestivalen, the annual music competition to decide the Swedish entry to the Eurovision Song Contest. The Poodles performed in Melodifestivalen again in 2008, this time with E-Type. They also played at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2006 and 2008. Bo Martin Erik Erikson (born 27 August 1965), better known by his stage name E-Type, is a Swedish eurodance musician, songwriter and record producer. His professional name is based on the Jaguar E-Type sports car. Biography Early years Erikson was born in Uppsala. His father is Bo ("Bosse") G. Erikson (b. 1933), known as the host of the science TV-show ''Vetenskapens Värld'' (World of Science) on Sveriges Television, SVT. His mother's name was Elisabeth and he has one sibling, a sister Erika. His mother died of cancer in 1987. Hans Christer Sjögren (born 6 April 1950) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the dansband Vikingarna. Early life Hans Christer Sjögren was born in Hagfors, Sweden, on 6 April 1950, as the child of Eivor (née Östling) and Hans Sjögren. I Love Europe is a song written by Torgny Söderberg and Magnus Johansson, with lyrics by Ingela Forsman. It was originally performed by Christer Sjögren at Melodifestivalen 2008.
