For the Eurovision Song Contest 1980, 25th Eurovision Song Contest, the Sweden, Swedish entry was chosen in the national selection Melodifestivalen 1980. Tomas Ledin won with the song "Just nu!", which he had written himself. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1980 Melodifestivalen 1980 was the selection for the 20th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 19th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 120 songs were submitted to Sveriges Television, SVT for the competition. The final was held in the SVT Studios in Stockholm on 8 March 1980, presented by Bengt Bedrup and broadcast on SVT1, TV1 but was not broadcast on radio. Tomas Ledin
Tomas Folke Jonas Ledin (; born 25 February 1952) is a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician, and record producer. He grew up in the town of Sandviken, Sweden and has sold 3 million records. Career Tomas Ledin started his career in 1972 when his first single, "Då ska jag spela", was a big hit. Other successful songs followed: "Blå, blå känslor" (1973), (covered by Björn Skifs), "Knivhuggarrock" (1975), "Festen har börjat" (1976), and "I natt är jag din" (1977). At the beginning of the 70s, Ledin was influenced by hippie fashion and demonstrated against the Vietnam war. He also took part in a Swedish stage production of the musical ''Godspell'' in 1975 and performed in 140 concerts in the Swedish folkparks in 1977. Eva Dahlgren
Eva Charlotte Dahlgren (; born 9 June 1960) is a Swedish pop musician and singer-songwriter. Career Dahlgren was discovered by musician/producer Bruno Glenmark in 1978 after appearing on the TV show ''Sveriges magasin'' and her debut album ''Finns det nån som bryr sej om'' was released the same year. In 1979 she placed third in Melodifestivalen (the tryout competition for the Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden). She toured Sweden in 1987 with Swedish pop duo Roxette, a tour that was attended by more than 100,000 people. Jan Lars Persson (born 3 October 1947), known by his stage name Janne Lucas, is a Swedish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of pop band Lucas. Early life Janne Lucas was born Jan Persson in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 3 October 1947. Lars-Eric Gustav "Lasse" Holm (born 9 December 1943) is a Swedish singer, songwriter and television host. Holm has also hosted and appeared in several television shows. Chips was a Swedish country group formed in Sweden in 1979. History Chips finished 4th in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1980 with the song " Mycke' mycke' mer", with Lars Westman, Lisa Magnusson, Mats Rådberg and Monica Silverstrand (back then Barwén) as background singers. After Melodifestivalen 1980, Johansson also became a member. In 1980, the album ''Chips'' was released and shortly after this, Elisabeth Andreasson became a member. Just some weeks after this, they toured the former West Germany. Kenneth Gärdestad
John Charles Kenneth Gärdestad (9 May 1948 – 3 March 2018) was a Swedes, Swedish songwriter, best known for writing lyrics for the songs of his brother, Ted Gärdestad. He participated at Melodifestivalen 1979 as a songwriter for the winning song "Satellit" performed by his brother. The song went on to Eurovision Song Contest, Eurovision the same year, where it placed 17th. Gärdestad was also an architect, affiliated to the private Kunskapsskolan, where he designed the interior of several of its high schools. Ted Arnbjörn Gärdestad (; 18 February 195622 June 1997) was a Swedish singer, songwriter, musician and actor known internationally as Ted. Gärdestad began his acting career in 1966 and began playing music in 1971, signing with Polar Music. Assigned with in-house producers Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Gärdestad released his first single, "Hela världen runt," in late 1971 and worked closely with the four members of ABBA to create his debut album '' Undringar'' (1972).
