Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2005
The Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2005 was Norway's fourth national Melodi Grand Prix Junior for young singers aged 8 to 15. It was held on May 28, 2005, in Oslo Spektrum, Oslo, Norway with a live broadcast of an hour and 15 minutes presented by Stian Barsnes-Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui. 10 participants competed, The contest was won by 9-year-old Malin Reitan with her song "Sommer og skolefri". She received the award out of the hands of @lek, who won the 2004 contest. During the interval, Wig Wam performed "In My Dreams" and Jorun Stiansen performed "This Is the Night". Malin, who didn't turn 10 until August, went on to represent Norway in the 2005 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, where she placed 3rd. Nadia Hasnaoui
Nadia Hasnaoui ( ar, نادية حسناوي; born 10 June 1963) is a Moroccan-born Norwegian television presenter. Biography Hasnaoui was born in Morocco to a Norwegian mother and Moroccan father. Her maternal grandfather was Nobel Prize–winning economist Ragnar Frisch. When she was four years old her parents divorced and she moved to Norway with her mother. In Oslo she attended a strict Catholic French kindergarten and then later a French school until fourth grade. She became a Norwegian citizen at the age of eighteen. In 1991 she married actor Kim Haugen. During the 1980s she was a dancer, among other places at ''Den Nationale Scene''. Melodi Grand Prix Junior, also spelled as MGPjr, is a Norwegian television song competition for aspiring singers between the ages of 8 and 15. The competing songs are written by the participants themselves and are sung primarily in Norwegian, and on several occasions, there were songs in Northern Sami, another language of Norway. History The idea was taken from the Danish broadcaster Danmarks Radio, who launched a song contest for aspiring singers aged 8 to 15 in spring 2000. The format was a success and caught the attention of Norway and Sweden in 2002. From 2003 to 2005, the contest used to select the Norwegian entry for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC). In 2006 Norway withdrew from the contest to participate in Melodi Grand Prix Nordic and the contest used to select the entry for MGP Nordic until 2009. Malin Reitan
Malin (born Malin Reitan; 8 August 1995 in Trondheim, Norway) is a Norwegian singer. She finished 3rd in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with her song "''Sommer og skolefri''". She is also a recording artist with several released albums. Malin sings in her regional dialect. Biography Malin's career as a singer started when she was nine years old. She auditioned for the Norwegian selection for JESC 2005, the Melodi Grand Prix Junior 2005, and she was selected to sing among ten contestants in the final show. Her song was too short though, so she had to write one more verse for it on the way home from the audition. After surprising herself by winning MGP Jr by a landslide, she went on a summer concert tour, singing at festivals and on television shows. In November, she performed in the JESC 2005 in Hasselt, Belgium and finished 3rd, the best position for Norway so far. Wig Wam is a Norwegian glam metal band formed in Halden in 2001. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the third edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged 8 to 15. On 26 November 2005, the contest was broadcast live from the Ethias Arena in Hasselt, Belgium, in a joint effort by the national broadcasters Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT) and Radio télévision belge de la communauté française (RTBF), in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union. Marcel Vanthilt and Maureen Louys hosted the event. The show was not only broadcast live in the competing countries, it was also available on satellite worldwide and the Australian television channel SBS who acquired the rights to broadcast the show one month later.
