Mellerud Municipality
Mellerud Municipality (''Melleruds kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County by Lake Vänern in Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Mellerud. The amalgamation leading to the present municipality took place in 1969 when "old" Mellerud (instituted as a market town (''köping'') in 1908) was merged with Bolstad, Kroppefjäll and Skållerud. Before the municipal reform of 1952 there were ten entities in the area. Bengtsfors Municipality
Bengtsfors Municipality (''Bengtsfors kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the town of Bengtsfors. The present municipality was formed in 1971 when the former market town (''köping'') of Bengtsfors (instituted in 1926) was amalgamated with the municipalities of Bäckefors, LelÃ¥ng and Steneby. Geography The municipality has much water areas, consisting of lakes and streams. It makes it a good place for canoeing, fishing and bathing. Every year a canoeing marathon called ''Dalslands Kanot Marathon+'', or DKM+, is held. Färgelanda Municipality (''Färgelanda kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is in the town of Färgelanda. The present municipality was formed in 1974 when "old" Färgelanda Municipality (which in 1967 had absorbed Ödeborg) was amalgamated with Högsäter. Its coat of arms is based on a medieval seal depicting a harrow, symbolizing agriculture. Vänersborg Municipality (''Vänersborgs kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Vänersborg. The present municipality was created during the local government reform in the early 1970s. In 1971 the ''City of Vänersborg'' became a municipality of unitary type and three years later it was amalgamated with three surrounding municipalities. Åmål Municipality (''Åmåls kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Åmål. The present municipality was created in 1971 through the amalgamation of the former ''City of Åmål'' and the former rural municipality of Tössbo (the latter created in 1952). Geography and natural resources The city of Åmål is located in a scenic bay of Lake Vänern, the largest lake in Sweden.
