Mellen Township, Michigan
Mellen Township is a civil township of Menominee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,260 at the 2000 census. Communities * Ingalls is an unincorporated community along U.S. Highway 41, south of Stephenson. Ingalls has a post office with ZIP code 49848. *Wallace is an unincorporated community located 15 miles north of Menominee on US Highway 41. It is a small village with the DeYoung Zoo, a used-car dealership, a tavern, lumber yard, post office, ice maker, wood businesses, grocery market, service station, and a liquidator store. Mellen is a city in Ashland County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 698 at the 2020 census. Attractions *Copper Falls State Park is located just north of Mellen. Government Mellen has a mayor-council form of government. According to the Mellen Weekly-Record; Vol.123 No. 29; Wednesday, July 20, 2022, Mayor Joseph A. Barabe, resigned effective at noon, on July 15, 2022. No further explanation was given. Nathaniel Delegan, President of the Mellen City Council, served as Acting Mayor until the election of a new Mayor on April 4, 2023. Joey Mellen
Joseph Mellen (born September 1939) is the British-born author of ''Bore Hole'', a book about his attempts at self-trepanation, influenced by Bart Huges, and his eventual success with the help of his partner Amanda Feilding. Mellen and Feilding lived together from the late 1960s until the early 1990s. They had two sons, Rock Basil Hugo Feilding-Mellen (born 1979) and Cosmo Birdie Feilding-Mellen (born 1985). Rock Feilding-Mellen was a local councillor and cabinet member for housing, property and regeneration with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Following the Grenfell Tower fire and its aftermath, he resigned. In 1994 Mellen met Jenny Gathorne-Hardy, who was trepanned in 1995. Their son Rudy Blu was born in 1996 and they were married later that year; their daughter Lily was born in 2012. Ida Mellen
Ida May Mellen (1877–1970) was an American ichthyologist and biologist. She worked at the New York Aquarium from 1916 to 1929. She was born in New York City to Mary Davis and Andrew Jackson Mellen in 1877. After graduating from the Lockwood Academy in Brooklyn, Mellen attended Browne’s Business School, 76 Court Street, Brooklyn, from which she graduated in 1900. She spent several years as a law reporter in New York while she also studied at the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole (1908–1910). She joined the New York Aquarium in 1916 as secretary to Aquarium Director Charles H. Townsend, and later became involved in the scientific work of the Aquarium. Within a short time, she was writing articles for the ''Bulletin of the New York Zoological Society,'' which operated the Aquarium. Her first article, “Some Babies of the Sea,” appeared in the ''Bulletin'' in March 1917. She frequently contributed to the ''Bulletin'' and published several books, including ''Fishe ...
