Melissa Wijfje
Melissa Wijfje (born 21 July 1995) is a Dutch allround speed skater who is specialized in the middle and long distances. Career In 2015 Wijfje won the ISU World Junior Speed Skating Championships in Warsaw, Poland after winning the 1500 and 3000 m events. Additionally she won the gold medal at the team pursuit event with Sanneke de Neeling and Esmee Visser Esmee Michelle Visser (; born 26 January 1996) is a Dutch speed skater and Olympic Champion, who specialises in long distances. Born in Leiden, she qualified for the 5000 metres at the 2018 Winter Olympics in December 2017. At the 2018 European .... Ter Aar
Ter Aar () is a town and former municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is located about 6 km northeast of Alphen aan den Rijn. The town had a population of 9,007 on 1 July 2006. The area of Ter Aar is divided into two parts by the small canal De Aar. The western, larger part is named Langeraar (''Long Aar''), the eastern part Korteraar (''Short Aar''). These are also the names of two villages in the area. In 1788, the former village of Langeraar was destroyed by a flood; a village of that name was rebuilt in the northern part of the area. Utah Olympic Oval
The Utah Olympic Oval is an indoor speed skating oval located southwest of Salt Lake City, in Kearns, Utah. The Oval was built for the 2002 Winter Olympics and it hosted the long track speed skating events for the 2002 games. Inside the facility the 400 meter skating track surrounds two international sized ice sheets, and is itself surrounded by a 442 meter running track. Due to its high altitude, , and the associated low air resistance, ten Olympic records and nine world records were set at the Oval during the 2002 games, the largest number of world records ever set at one event. ISU Speed Skating World Cup
The ISU Speed Skating World Cup is a series of international speed skating competitions, organised annually by the International Skating Union since the winter of 1985–86 ISU Speed Skating World Cup, 1985–86. Every year during the winter season, a number of competitions on different distances and on different locations are held. Skaters can earn points at each competition, and the skater who has the most points on a given distance at the end of the series is the winner. Initially not very popular with skaters nor spectators, the World Cup has gradually become more and more popular, and this was due to the creation of the World Single Distance Championships.
