Melissa Leong (born 1982) is an Australian television host, freelance food writer, radio broadcaster, critic, cookbook editor and marketer. Life and career Leong was born in 1982 in Sydney. Her parents emigrated to Australia from Singapore. She co-hosted ''The Chefs' Line'' with chefs Dan Hong and Mark Olive for two seasons in 2017, and 2018. ''Junior MasterChef Australia'' (known colloquially as MasterChef Kids) is an Australian competitive cooking game show. It is a spin-off of '' MasterChef Australia'', itself an adaptation of the British show ''MasterChef'', and featured contestants aged 8 to 12. ''The Chefs' Line'' is an Australian reality competitive cooking show. The series features four home cooks in each episode who compete against professional chefs in a studio kitchen. The challenge is to create their personal versions of a chosen dish from the week's featured cuisine. Dishes are then blind-tasted and judged by executive chef Dan Hong, food writer Melissa Leong, and chef Mark Olive. The contestants are eliminated until the week's winner is chosen. Dan Hong
Dan Hong (born 1982) is an Australian chef, restaurateur and television host. He is the executive chef at a number of restaurants under the Merivale company. Early life Hong's parents were born in Vietnam. His mother Angie came to Australia under the Colombo Plan to study chemical engineering. His father was a postgraduate electrical engineering student. They subsequently opened a number of Vietnamese restaurants in Sydney called Thanh Binh. Hong attended Epping West Public School and Barker College but showed little interest in schooling. After attending a cooking school in Chatswood, Hong undertook a traineeship at the InterContinental Hotel and went on to an apprenticeship at Longrain, Pello Restaurant and Marque. Career Once qualified, Hong joined Tetsuya's as chef de partie followed by Bentley Restaurant and Bar as sous chef. Mark Olive (born 1962), also known as the Black Olive, is an Aboriginal Australian chef. Olive was born in Wollongong in 1962 and is a Bundjalung man. The twelfth series of the Australian cooking game show '' MasterChef Australia'', also known as ''MasterChef Australia: Back To Win'', premiered on 13 April 2020. It is the first series to feature series four winner Andy Allen, Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo serving as judges, after the departure of Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston in the previous season. Jock Zonfrillo
Barry "Jock" Zonfrillo (4 August 1976 – 30 April 2023) was a Scottish chef, television presenter and restaurateur. He was the founder of the Orana Foundation and a judge on '' MasterChef Australia''. Early life Zonfrillo was born in Glasgow, Scotland and raised in Ayr. His father, Ivan, was a barber and his mother, Sarah, was a hairdresser. His mother's family is Scottish from Dalmellington, Ayrshire, while his father is from Scauri, Italy. He had an older sister. Zonfrillo attended Belmont Academy in Ayr. Career Rise to head chef Zonfrillo started working in kitchens at the age of 12 as a part-time dishwasher at the restaurant in which his older sister was waitressing. He started learning to cook at the restaurant three weeks later when one of the chefs had a motorbike accident. Andrew Peter Allen (born 30 April 1988) is an Australian cook. He is notable for winning the MasterChef Australia (season 4), fourth season of ''MasterChef Australia'' in 2012, and for being a judge on ''MasterChef Australia'' from MasterChef Australia (series 12), 2020.
