Melissa Adams
Melissa Adams (born December 16, 1977 in Grand Falls, New Brunswick as Melissa McClure) is a Canadian curler from Hanwell, New Brunswick. She currently skips her own team. She is a former Canadian and World Junior champion skip. Career Juniors Adams first national championship appearance was at the 1995 Canada Winter Games where she played for New Brunswick, winning a bronze medal. She also won two New Brunswick High School championships in 1993 and 1994. Adams would then go on to skip New Brunswick at three straight Canadian Junior Curling Championships. At the 1996 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, Adams led her New Brunswick team of Nancy Toner, Brigitte McClure and Bethany Toner to a 6–6 round robin record, missing the playoffs. Grand Falls, New Brunswick
Grand Falls (french: Grand-Sault) is a town located in Victoria County, New Brunswick, Canada. Grand Falls is situated on the Saint John River. The town derives its name from a waterfall created by a series of rock ledges over which the river drops . On 1 January 2023, Grand Falls will expand, annexing the village of Drummond, the rural community of Saint-André, the local service district of the parish of Grand Falls, and part of the LSD of the parish of Drummond. History In 1686, Monsignor de Saint-Vallier (of Quebec) was the first known person to mention in writing the magnificent falls for which Grand Falls is named. Canadian Junior Curling Championships
The Canadian Junior Curling Championships is an annual curling tournament held to determine the best junior-level curling team in Canada. Junior level curlers must be under the age of 21 as of June 30 in the year prior to the tournament. The event began in 1950 as the National Schoolboys Championship, and all members of a team had to attend the same high school. Efforts to establish the event were led by Ken Watson, Maurice Smith and others. From 1950 to 1957, teams played for the Victor Sifton Trophy. Sifton's newspaper chain was the sponsor of the event during this time. From 1958 to 1975 the event was sponsored by Pepsi and was known as the Pepsi Schoolboys, becoming the Pepsi Juniors in 1976. At that time, the age limit of the event was adjusted to match the eligibility for the World Junior Curling Championships which began in 1975. Jennifer Armstrong (curler)
Jennifer Armstrong (born August 1, 1992) is a Canadian curler from White City, Saskatchewan. She currently plays second on Team Nancy Martin. She is a three-time New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion. Career Juniors Armstrong's first national level event was at the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. There, she skipped her team to a 7–5 round robin record. In 2012 she went on to represent New Brunswick again at the Canadian Juniors. In 2014, she represented UNB at the 2014 CIS/CCA Curling Championships. Women's Out of juniors, Armstrong joined the Melissa Adams rink at third. They competed in local World Curling Tour events with their best finish at the WFG Jim Sullivan Curling Classic where they won the title. 2017 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2017 New Brunswick Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the provincial women's curling championship of New Brunswick was held January 25 to 29 at the Miramichi Curling Club in Miramichi, New Brunswick. The winning Melissa Adams team represented New Brunswick at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in St. Catharines, Ontario. Melissa Adams of Fredericton would win her first ever provincial Scotties title. She had previously won the 1998 World Junior Curling Championships. Adams had scored four points in the sixth end to defeat Saint John, New Brunswick, Saint John's Sarah Mallais rink in the final by a score of 9-6. The Adams rink represented New Brunswick at the national Scotties, where they had to compete in a pre-qualifying tournament against the Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories to enter the main event. Akiko Sekiwa (; born April 6, 1978 in Tokoro, Hokkaido, Japan as Akiko Katoh, ) is a Japanese curler and curling coach, a four-time (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998) and a four-time Japan women's champion (1997, 1998, 1999, 2001). Jennifer Ann Hanna (born January 22, 1980) is a Canadian curler from Nepean, Ontario. She curls out of the Ottawa Curling Club. She was a finalist in both the 1998 Canadian Junior Curling Championship and the . Career Early competitive career Hanna competed at the 1998 Canadian Juniors, losing in the final to New Brunswick's Melissa McClure. Despite this, she was named as the tournament's second team all-star skip. In 2002, as a second for Anne Merklinger, Hanna finished second at the Ontario Championships. In 2003, as a vice-skip for Darcie Simpson, she finished second and at the 2004 Ontario Scott Tournament of Hearts, she finished third in her first year skipping, after finishing first in the round robin.
