Melikhaya Xego
Melikhaya Xego is a South African politician. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), he served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 22 May 2019 until 28 January 2023. He is the former Provincial Chairperson of the party. Life and career Xego was born in the town of Alice in the now-dissolved Cape Province. He served as the Provincial Organiser of the EFF until November 2014 when he was designated to the post of Provincial Secretary. He soon succeeded Bernard Joseph as the Provincial Chairperson of the party. For the 2014 general elections, Xego was a candidate for the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. Due to the party's electoral performance, he was not elected. In August 2016, Xego was elected to the Cape Town City Council and inaugurated as a councillor on 10 August 2016. Alice, Eastern Cape
Alice is a small town in Eastern Cape, South Africa that is named after Princess Alice, the daughter of the British Queen Victoria. It was settled in 1824 by British colonists it's adjacent to the Tyhume River. It has rail and road connection to East London, King William's Town and other towns in the province. University of Fort Hare The University of Fort Hare began in early 1847 as a fort built to house British troops. The same fort was converted in 1916 into a black university institution. Economic Freedom Fighters
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is a South African left-wing to far-left pan-Africanist and Marxist–Leninist political party. It was founded by expelled former African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) President Julius Malema, and his allies, in 2013. Malema is President of the EFF, heading the Central Command Team which serves as the central structure of the party. It is currently the third-largest party in both houses of the Parliament of South Africa, South African Parliament. Bernard Daniel Joseph is a South African politician. A member of the Economic Freedom Fighters, he served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2015 to 2019. He was the first chairperson of the party in the Western Cape. From 2014 to 2015, he was a Member of the National Assembly (South Africa), National Assembly. Before he held elected office, he was an employee at the Government of the Western Cape, Western Cape Community Safety Department. The Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) is the legislature of the Western Cape province of South Africa. It is located at 7 Wale Street in Cape Town. The Provincial Parliament, along with the other provincial legislatures of South Africa, exists by virtue of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of South Africa and Chapter 3 of the Constitution of the Western Cape. Daylin Gary Mitchell (born 7 February 1986) is a South African politician who has been the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since December 2022. A member of the governing Democratic Alliance, he has been a Member of the Provincial Parliament since September 2015. Nosipho Makamba-Botya is a South African politician who served as a member of the National Assembly of South Africa from June 2023 until May 2024, and represented the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). She previously served as an EFF councillor in the City of Cape Town and before that as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament.
