Melchor De Concha Y Toro
Melchor de Concha y Toro (October 10, 1833 – July 21, 1892) was a Chilean businessman, lawyer, and politician, and the Marquis of Casa Concha by the Spanish Crown. Early life Son of Melchor Santiago de Concha y Cerda and of Damiana de Toro Guzmán. Studied at the Instituto Nacional (''National Institute'') and at the faculty of law of the University of Chile, receiving his law degree on January 17, 1857. When he entered the University of Chile Faculty of Law, he presented a historical book commended by the university titled ''Chile during the years 1824 through 1828'' Politics Between 1861 and 1871 he belonged to the Conservative Party, but soon became a moderate liberal. He entered politics in 1864 after being elected representative of Melipilla. He was reelected as representative until 1886, when he was elected to the Senate representing Santiago. José Antonio Gandarillas Luco (1839 – February 9, 1913) was a Chilean lawyer and Liberal politician. Early life Gandarillas was born in Santiago de Chile in 1839. He was the son of José Santiago Gandarillas Guzmán and María del Carmen Luco Huici. His paternal grandparents were Santiago Gandarillas Romero and María del Carmen Guzmán Ibáñez. His uncle was Senator Manuel José Gandarillas Guzmán, who served as Ministry of Government and Foreign Affairs under Ramón Freire, the first President of Chile. He was educated at the College of the Sacred Hearts of Santiago between 1849 and 1852, and at the National Institute beginning in 1851. Alejandro Reyes (politician)
Alejandro Matías Luis Ignacio Reyes Cotapos (24 February 1825 – 8 January 1884) was a Chilean lawyer and politician. Life and career Reyes was born in Santiago to Ignacio de Reyes Saravia and Micaela Pérez Cotapos de la Lastra. He married twice, first to Hortensia Lavalle Correas, then Fanny Ovalle Vicuña. Reyes earned a degree in law from the University of Chile in 1845. Throughout his political career, Reyes remained allied with Manuel Montt and Antonio Varas, whose supporters formally established the National Party in 1857. In 1849, Reyes was named an alternate member of the Chamber of Deputies from Caupolicán, but never took office. He began working for the Santiago municipal government in 1851. Reyes won his first parliamentary election the next year, taking a seat in the Chamber of Deputies as a representative of Los Ángeles and Yungay. Pirque () is a commune of Chile in Cordillera Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region; it is located 2.8 kilometers southeast of Puente Alto and 21.3 kilometers south-southeast of the center of Santiago.
