Melbourne Aces
The Melbourne Aces are a professional baseball team in the Australian Baseball League based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Their home field is the Melbourne Ballpark in Altona. History On Friday, 20 August 2010 it was announced that ex-Australian Baseball player Philip Dale would take up the head coaching role at Melbourne Aces. On Tuesday, 12 October 2010, it was announced by newly appointed General Manager Windsor Knox that the Aces would play home games at a redeveloped Melbourne Showgrounds. In their inaugural season the Melbourne Aces qualified for the finals before being defeated in the semi finals series against the Adelaide Bite. On 24 March 2011 the team announced Jet Couriers as their naming rights sponsor for the 2011-12 season. On 13 July 2012, after many rumors and internet hype, the Melbourne Aces finally announced that they will move from their home field at the Showgrounds to the Melbourne Ballpark in Altona. Australian Baseball League
The Australian Baseball League (ABL) is a professional baseball league in Australia. The league is governed by the Australian Baseball Federation (ABF). It uses the same name as a now-defunct competition held during the 1990s, and though it shares some history of the original league with the Claxton Shield awarded to winners of both competitions, it is considered to be a separate competition. Because the ABL's season takes place from November to February, the ABL is one of baseball's recognised winter leagues (although it is summer in Australia when the season takes place), where minor-league prospects in North America are often assigned as an English-speaking alternative to the primary Spanish-speaking Latin America-based winter leagues. Yoshiyuki Kamei (baseball)
is a Japanese professional baseball player for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. He was selected Japan national baseball team at the 2009 World Baseball Classic. Justin Patrick Huber (; born 1 July 1982) is an Australian former professional baseball player. A first baseman and outfielder, Huber has played in Major League Baseball, Nippon Professional Baseball, and the Australian Baseball League. He has also played for the Australian national baseball team in international competitions. Career New York Mets Huber attended Beaconhills College and was signed as an international free agent as a catcher by the New York Mets in 2000. Adam Bright (born 11 August 1984, in Melbourne) is an Australian left-handed pitcher. He is son of ex-star Australian spin bowler Ray Bright. Career Bright signed with the Colorado Rockies in 2002 at the age of 17 after a strong performance at the 2002 Junior World Championships. He debuted with the Casper Rockies in 2003 and led the Pioneer League with most games pitched. In 2004, he debuted for the Victoria Aces in the Claxton Shield and later that year played A- ball with the Tri-City Dust Devils. In 2005, Bright had his first full-season with a 4–2 record including 6 saves and a 3.38 ERA in 51 games for the Asheville Tourists. Bradley Christopher Harman (born 19 November 1985) is an Australian former professional baseball second baseman. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Philadelphia Phillies.
