Melange (fictional Drug)
Melange (), often referred to as "the spice", is the fictional psychedelic drug central to the Dune (franchise), ''Dune'' series of science fiction novels by Frank Herbert and derivative works. In the series, the most essential and valuable commodity in the universe is melange, a drug that gives the user a longer life span, greater vitality, and heightened awareness. In some humans, the spice can also unlock prescience, a form of precognition based in genetics but made possible by use of the drug in larger dosages. Among other functions, prescience makes safe and accurate interstellar travel possible. However, melange is also highly addictive, and withdrawal is fatal. Harvesting melange is also hazardous in the extreme, as its only known source is the harsh desert planet Arrakis, and melange deposits are guarded by giant sandworm (Dune), sandworms. Description Properties Melange is a drug that prolongs life and bestows heightened vitality and awareness, and in some humans unlocks ...

Mélange (rocket Fuel Component)
Mélange is a mixture of nitrates and organic matter and a liquid oxidant rocket fuel component that was "used during the Soviet era as one of two components to propel small and medium range missiles." It is a highly toxic and aggressive mixture of acids, which can ignite in contact with combustibles. When it decomposes it becomes unstable, producing nitric acid and nitrogen tetroxide. Some former-Soviet countries have large quantities. Ukraine, for example, had 16,000 tonnes, which the OSCE has helped process. NATO The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO, ; french: Organisation du traité de l'Atlantique nord, ), also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance between 30 member states – 28 European and two No ... has successfully processed mélange in Uzbekistan. Mélange
In geology, a mélange is a large-scale breccia, a mappable body of rock characterized by a lack of continuous bedding and the inclusion of fragments of rock of all sizes, contained in a fine-grained deformed matrix. The mélange typically consists of a jumble of large blocks of varied lithologies. Both tectonic and sedimentary processes can form mélange. Mélange occurrences are associated with thrust faulted terranes in orogenic belts. A mélange is formed in the accretionary wedge above a subduction zone. The ultramafic ophiolite sequences which have been obducted onto continental crust are typically underlain by a mélange. Smaller-scale localized mélanges may also occur in shear or fault zones, where coherent rock has been disrupted and mixed by shearing forces. Large-scale melanges formed in active continental margin settings generally consist of altered oceanic crustal material and blocks of continental slope sediments in a sheared mudstone matrix. The mixing ...

Wiener Melange
A ''Wiener Melange'' is a specialty coffee drink similar to a cappuccino. The difference is that the ''Melange'' is made with milder coffee. At Cafe Sperl in Vienna, the ''Melange'' is half a cup of brewed coffee with half a cup of cream, topped with milk foam. Nescafe, Movenpick, Lufthansa Catering and Albert Heijn housebrand however serve Wiener Melange as Coffee blended with Cocoa – no matter whether foam topped or not. The English term "Cafe Vienna" and the French ''Café viennois'' usually refer to '' espresso con panna'' – topped with whipped cream instead of milk foam. Ordering a ''Wiener Melange'' may yield the arrival of an ''espresso con panna'' even in Vienna, though this is properly called a ''Franziskaner'' (Franciscan friar). The reference to Franciscan friars parallels the term "cappuccino", similar to the Austrian coffee preparation or "Kapuziner", which derives its name from the brown color of the robes worn by Capuchin friars.
