Melaleuca Osullivanii
''Melaleuca osullivanii'' is a plant in the myrtle Family (biology), family, Myrtaceae and is Endemism, endemic to the Southwest Australia, south-west of Western Australia. It was first formally described in 2004 after a review of the broombush group, ''Melaleuca uncinata''. It differs from others in the group by having leaves that are fine and circular in cross section. The closest other broombrush is ''Melaleuca hamata'' whose leaves are in diameter compared to for this species. Description ''Melaleuca osullivanii'' is shrub growing to tall with flaky, papery bark. Its leaves are long, wide, linear in shape and oval to almost circular in cross section tapering to a point or with a bristle on the end. The flowers are creamy white and are arranged in heads containing 4 to 9 groups of flowers in threes. The petals are oval to almost circular, long and fall off soon after the flower opens. Lyndley Craven
Lyndley Alan Craven (3 September 1945 – 11 July 2014) was a botanist who became the Principal Research Scientist of the Australian National Herbarium. Lyndley ("Lyn") Craven worked for the CSIRO plant taxonomy unit of the New Guinea Survey Group, Division of Land Research and Regional Survey from 1964 to 1967. This was part of a unit that became the Australian National Herbarium, Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research. Craven's duties included botanical support for land resources surveys. Craven then left to study horticulture at Burnley Horticultural College, Victoria, earning the degree of Diploma of Horticultural Science in 1970 before being briefly employed by the Parks and Gardens Branch of Department of the Interior, Canberra. Part of this department later became the Canberra Botanic Garden and eventually the Australian National Herbarium, Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research at the Australian National Botanic Gardens.
