Vellamdam is a village in Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu. It is situated 4 kilometers away from Nazareth, 32 kilometers away from Tirunelveli and 41 kilometers away from Thoothukudi. Geography The village has a big lake which provides water for irrigation. Due to availability of water resources and fertile land, agriculture is widely practiced .Crops such as Paddy, Banana, Ground Nut and Urad dal are cultivated here. Karuppasamy Temple, Mela Vellamadam
Karuppu Sami (Tamil: கருப்பசாமி, IAST: Karuppasāmi) is one of the regional Tamil male deities popular among the rural social groups of Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala. He is one of the 21 associated folk-deities, and is hence one among the demigods or kaval deivams in Dravidian folk religion. He is sometimes considered to be a form of Shiva among Shaivas. Tiruvaikuntam is a panchayat town in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located on the banks of the river Thamirabarani.
