Meitetsu 1380 Series
The was an electric multiple unit (EMU) train type operated by the private railway operator Nagoya Railroad (Meitetsu) in Japan from 2003 until September 2015. The unique four-car train was converted from a former 1030/1230 series trainset which sustained accident damage in 2002. Some of the more famous trains operated by Meitetsu include the ''Panorama Car'' and the '' Panorama Car Super'', both of which offer views through their wide front windows. A pantograph (or "pan" or "panto") is an apparatus mounted on the roof of an electric train, tram or electric bus to collect power through contact with an overhead line. The trains consist of two limited express style 1000 series (or 1030 series) cars and four commuter style 1200 series (or 1230 series) cars. Variants The type consists of nine two-car 1800 series sets introduced in 1991, and three two-car 1850 series sets introduced in 1992, built using the underframes and electrical equipment from withdrawn Meitetsu 7000 series, 7500 series "Panorama Car" EMUs.
