MeitY
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) is an executive agency of the Government of India, Union Government of the India, Republic of India. It was carved out of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (India), Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on 19 July 2016 as a standalone ministerial agency responsible for IT policy, strategy and development of the electronics industry. History Previously known as "The Department of Information Technology", it was renamed to The Department of Electronics and Information Technology in 2012. On 19 July 2016, DeitY was made into full-fledged ministry, which henceforth is known as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, bifurcating it from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. Semi-Conductor Laboratory
The Semi-Conductor Laboratory, Mohali (SCL) is a research institute under Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India (formerly under Department Of Space). Its aims include research and development in the field of semiconductor technology. SCL had its origin as the ''Semiconductor Complex Limited'', a public sector undertaking of the Government of India. It came under the administrative control of the Department of Space in March 2005 and has since undergone organisational restructuring to become focused on research and development. Digital Locker (India)
DigiLocker is an Indian digitization online service provided by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India under its Digital India initiative. DigiLocker provides an account in cloud to every Aadhaar holder to access authentic documents/certificates such as driving license, vehicle registration, academic mark sheet in digital format from the original issuers of these certificates. It also provides 1GB storage space to each account to upload scanned copies of legacy documents. Users need to possess an Aadhaar number to use DigiLocker. For sign-up, the Aadhaar number and the one-time password sent to the Aadhaar-registered mobile number, need to be entered. The beta version of the service was rolled out in February 2015, and launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 July 2015. Common Service Centres (CSC) (Hindi: जन सेवा केंद्र) are physical facilities for delivering Government of India e-Services to rural and remote locations where availability of computers and Internet was negligible or mostly absent. They are multiple-services-single-point model for providing facilities for multiple transactions at a single geographical location.
