Mehman Huseynov
Mehman Huseynov (born 24 November 1989) is an Azerbaijani journalist and human rights activist. He was imprisoned from 2017-2019. Huseynov edits ''SANCAQ'', a socio-political magazine, which uses social media. He also chaired the Institute for Reporters’ Freedom and Safety (IRFS) - an Azerbaijani human rights organisation concerned with freedom of expression and freedom of information, which was shut down after a police raid in the summer of 2014. Prior to his arrest he had launched a campaign, “Hunt for Corrupt Officials”. The purpose was to provide evidence of corruption amongst Azerbaijan's ruling establishment. He was arrested in central Baku at around 8 pm local time on Monday 9 January 2017. He had recently posted pictures on the internet of luxury properties, which he claimed were owned by government officials. He has also claimed he was subsequently tortured. Baku

Fritt Ord (organization)
Fritt Ord is a Norwegian private foundation, whose aim is to support freedom of expression and a free press. It was established on 7 June 1974 by Narvesen Kioskkompani's leaders Jens Henrik Nordlie and Finn Skedsmo as well as the lawyer Jens Christian Hauge. Fritt Ord has significant funds and is playing a part in supporting various projects in Norway, as investing in the newspaper Morgenbladet, supporting an encyclopedia ( Store Norske Leksikon) and holding a 10.1% ownership in the media group A-Pressen. In addition it awards scholarships to students within media and journalism, awards the Fritt Ord Prize, and supports writing competitions. The charitable foundation ''Zeit-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius'' (house style: ZEIT-Stiftung) is registered in Hamburg. Its aim is to fund projects in research and scholarship, arts and culture, as well as education and training. It was founded in 1971 by Gerd Bucerius and carries the name of the founder, the title of the weekly newspaper '' Die Zeit'', which he co-founded, and the nickname of his second wife, Gertrud Ebel, ''Ebelin''. Free Media Awards (formerly: Gerd Bucerius Prize for Free Press in Eastern Europe, ) is the press prizes awarded by the two foundations The Fritt Ord Foundation and the ZEIT-Stiftung. History and prize consideration The prize was launched in 2000 by the ZEIT Foundation and was called the Gerd Bucerius Press Prizes for Eastern Europe (). Shahla Humbatova
Shahla Humbatova has been an Azerbaijani human rights lawyer since 2013. After speaking out about prison conditions she found herself disbarred from being a lawyer. There were international protests and in 2020 she was recognised as an International Woman of Courage by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. Life She began practising law in Azarbaijan in 2013 where lawyers who are advocates in human rights cases can find themselves abused on-line and even disbarred, She is one of two women who are willing to champion such cases in her country's conservative culture. She has attracted criticism, and admiration, for defending LGBT clients. Her example is encouraging others to follow.
