Mehman-e Maman
''Mum's Guest'' ( fa, مهمان مامان, translit. ''Mehman-e Maman'', Romanized as ''Mehmān-e Māmān'') is a 2004 Iranian family comedy film directed by Dariush Mehrjui. It is based on a book of the same name by Iranian author Houshang Moradi Kermani. It was commissioned by Sima Film, the film studio of Iranian national broadcaster IRIB. It did very well at the Iranian box office and won a number of prizes at the 22nd Fajr Film Festival. Plot Mrs. Effat (Golab Adineh), a mother of two, receives word that her nephew and his wife are going to be visiting. Despite not being wealthy, Mrs. Effat tries to prepare a respectable dinner party with the help of her cinema-loving husband, Mr. Effat (Hasan Pourshirazi), and her two children, Amir and Bahareh. Dariush Mehrjui
Dariush Mehrju'i ( fa, داریوش مهرجویی , born 8 December 1939, also spelled as ''Mehrjui'', ''Mehrjoui'', Mehrjooi, and ''Mehrjuyi'') is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, producer, editor and a member of the Iranian Academy of the Arts. Mehrjui was a founding member of the Iranian New Wave movement of the early 1970s. His second film, ''Gaav'', is considered to be the first film of this movement, which also included Masoud Kimiai and Nasser Taqvai. Most of his films are inspired by literature and adapted from Iranian and foreign novels and plays. Career Early life and education Dariush Mehrjui was born to a middle-class family in Tehran. Fajr International Film Festival
Iran's annual Fajr International Film Festival ( fa, جشنواره بینالمللی فیلم فجر), or Fajr Film Festival (little: FIFF; fa, جشنواره فیلم فجر), has been held every February and April in Tehran since 1982. The festival is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. It takes place on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Houshang Moradi Kermani ( fa, هوشنگ مرادی کرمانی, also Romanized as "Hūshang Morādi-e Kermāni"; born 7 September 1944 at Sirch, a village in Kerman Province, Iran) is an Iranian writer best known for children's and young adult fiction. He was a finalist in 2014 for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Moradi Kermani was born in Sirch, a village in Kerman Province, and was educated in Sirch, Kerman, and Tehran.
