Megatropolis
''Megatropolis'' is Iron Savior's sixth full-length album, released on June 4, 2007. It was recorded, mixed and engineered at Powerhouse Studios in Hamburg in February 2007 with the drums being recorded at HammerMusic in January 2007. The album was re-released in 2015 as ''Megatropolis 2.0'' with partly re-recorded vocal tracks, new mixed sound and a different track listing, as the band was dissatisfied with the original product. It is the last album to feature Yenz Leonhardt on bass, who would then join Stormwarrior shortly that year. This album is dedicated to Piet Sielck's late brother Tim, who died in November 2005. Background In a descriptive detail regarding the 2015 re-release of ''Megatropolis'', Piet Sielck explains: ''"AFM has informed me that our "Megatropolis" album is sold out, so the idea came up to rework the material and release a new edition. Being unhappy with the album for a long time, I am absolutely delighted to get a chance to correct my errors. The new mi ...

Iron Savior
Iron Savior is a German power metal band that was formed in Hamburg in 1996. Following a period of several years working behind the scenes in music production, multi-instrumentalist and producer/engineer Piet Sielck joined with former Helloween bandmate Kai Hansen and then-drummer for Blind Guardian, Thomen Stauch in a new project that would blend power metal with a high-concept science fiction story. The band's debut album ''Iron Savior'' introduced the story that would be told over the course of multiple albums, featuring a self-aware space vessel called the Iron Savior and its relationship to the mythical lost civilization of Atlantis. Critics have compared Iron Savior's sound and musical approach to classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and Queensrÿche. Kai Hansen's presence in the band brought to the Iron Savior albums on which he appeared a style heavily influenced by Gamma Ray and Helloween. Since its inception, Iron Savior has released twelve studio ...

The Landing (album)
''The Landing'' is the seventh full-length album by the German power metal band Iron Savior, released on 18 November 2011. It was recorded, mixed and mastered at Powerhouse Studio in Hamburg from June - September 2011 with the drums being recorded at Rekorder Studio in August 2011. It is the first album to feature returning bassist Jan-Sören Eckert since the 2002 album '' Condition Red''. Track listing Interview In an interview given by Sarkophag Rocks, Piet Sielck was asked why it took so long to release a follow-up to the previous album ''Megatropolis'': "One reason is my former band, SAVAGE CIRCUS, which demanded a lot of my time. Once again, I had to write all of the songs and the whole production basically on my own, which was a very hard job. The second reason is the downfall of my former record label, Dockyard. After rather bad mismanagement, the company went bankrupt in 2009. Being left alone by my former partners, I faced this hell and cleaned up the mess they've le ...

Battering Ram (Iron Savior Album)
''Battering Ram'' is the fifth studio album by the German power metal band Iron Savior. It is the first album to feature bassist Yenz Leonhardt. Track listing Reception The album was released to generally favorable reviews, with reviewers citing the band for remaining faithful to the genre of Power Metal. Allmusic gave the album 3 1/2 stars, with Alex Henderson stating that "Everything on this CD sounds like it could have been recorded 20 or 25 years earlier, which is just as well, because Savior's members are undeniably good at what they do. No one will accuse Savior of being the most groundbreaking band in the world, but in terms of quality and craftsmanship, they deliver the goods -- and what they lack in originality, they more than make up for with passion and conviction". Power Metal
Power metal is a subgenre of heavy metal combining characteristics of traditional heavy metal with speed metal, often within symphonic context. Generally, power metal is characterized by a faster, lighter, and more uplifting sound, in contrast with the heaviness and dissonance prevalent, for example, in extreme metal. Power metal bands usually have anthem-like songs with fantasy-based subject matter and strong choruses, thus creating a theatrical, dramatic and emotionally "powerful" sound. "Riffs became labyrinthine, vocals scorched higher altitudes—and they even managed to crank out some more volume." The term was first used in the mid-1980s and refers to two different but related styles: * the first pioneered and largely practiced in North America with a harder sound similar to speed metal; * a later, more widespread and popular style based in Europe "American metal such as Queensrÿche, Attacker, Jag Panzer, Iced Earth, Liege Lord, and Savatage; European bands such as H ...

Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Several American bands modified heavy metal into more accessible forms during the 1970s: the raw, sleazy sound and shock rock of Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss; the blues-rooted rock of Aerosmith; and the flashy guitar leads and party rock of Van Halen. During the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence,Walser (1993), p. 6 while Motörhea ...
