Megane (film)
is a 2007 Japanese comedy film written and directed by Naoko Ogigami. Set on an unnamed Japanese island, the film tells the story of a vacationing university professor who comes in contact with several eccentric local inhabitants. It serves as a follow-up to Ogigami's 2006 film ''Kamome Shokudo'', and features two of the same actors. It was featured at several film festivals including the Sundance Film Festival. During production, Ogigami decided the title of the movie after an impromptu realization that all of the characters in the film wore glasses. Plot ''Megane'' tells the story of Taeko (Satomi Kobayashi), an uptight city woman, vacationing on a quaint Japanese island (later identified by the director as Yoron Island, Kagoshima). Megane (Urusei Yatsura)
The ''Urusei Yatsura'' manga series features a large ensemble cast of characters created by Rumiko Takahashi. It tells the story of Japanese teenager Ataru Moroboshi, and the alien Lum, who believes she is Ataru's wife after he accidentally proposes to her. The series contains many other characters, whose unusual characteristics and eccentric personalities drive most of the stories. Megane Bridge
or Spectacles Bridge, over the Nakashima River (中島川) was built in Nagasaki in 1634 by the Chinese monk Mokusunyoujo who was in the second generation of Chinese monks living at Kofukuji Temple. It is said to be the oldest stone arch bridge in Japan along with Edo's Nihonbashi bridge and Iwakuni's Kintaikyou bridge and has been designated as an Important Cultural Property. Megane Bridge is also part of the first group of bridges built over Nakashima river. Megane Bridge is made of stone and is a double arch bridge. It received the nickname "Spectacles Bridge" because its two arches and their reflection in the water create the image of a pair of spectacles. Vehicles are prohibited from crossing the bridge and is strictly prohibited to pedestrians only. Isahaya Park
Isahaya Park (also known as Azalea Park) is in Isahaya in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan. It was built on the ruins of Isahaya castle (also known as Takashiro) during the Taishō period. The park is famous for its azalea blooms, and the "Azalea Festival" is held here, on and around April 10 every year. The park is also known for its "Spectacles Bridge" (see below) over the pond. Leila Megane (5 April 1891 – 2 January 1960) was a Welsh mezzo-soprano opera singer.Obituary The Times, Monday, 4 January 1960 Born Margaret Jones in Bethesda, Wales, she married T. Osborne Roberts (1879–1948), a composer. She spent a career touring numerous cities in Europe and once in New York. Career During her career the future Leila Megane would start music lessons from a young age and made first solo appearance at the age of 16, and then entered the Eisteddfod in Beaumaris, Anglesey and in 1910, she won first prize singing the Welsh song 'Gwraig y pysgotwr' (Eurgain), with Thomas Price (1857-1925), her future husband T.
