Meg And Mog
Meg and Mog is a series of children's books written by Helen Nicoll and illustrated by Jan Pieńkowski. First published in the 1970s, the books are about Meg, a witch whose spells always seem to go wrong, her striped cat Mog, and their friend Owl. The first book was published in January 1972. Following the death of Helen Nicholl in 2012, the series has been continued by Pieńkowski and David Walser. TV series adaptation In 2001, an animated TV series of 52 five-minute episodes was planned to be produced as a co-production between Telemagination, TV-Loonland AG and Absolutely Productions for a 2002-2003 delivery, with Loonland holding Non-UK rights to the series. For unknown reasons, this plan never came through, and Absolutely instead teamed with Happy Life and Varcara to produce the series instead for a late-2003 delivery, with CITV purchasing UK broadcast rights. Simon Hanselmann is an Australian-born cartoonist best known for his ''Megg, Mogg, and Owl'' series. Hanselmann has been nominated four times for an Ignatz Award, four times for an Eisner Award, once for the Harvey Award and won Best Series at Angouleme 2018. Art career Hanselmann's ''Megg, Mogg, and Owl'' comics are currently published in 13 languages internationally. Although the title characters are a witch and a cat, like the popular 1970s children's book heroes ''Meg and Mog'', "they are emphatically not the same". In Hanselmann's stories, the pair are "depressed drug users struggling with life", and are usually accompanied by two other regular characters, the uptight Owl and the highly volatile Werewolf Jones. ''Gobbolino, The Witch's Cat'' is a children's novel by Ursula Moray Williams, published by George G. Harrap in 1942 with illustrations by the writer. It has been published with new illustrations more than once and a 70th anniversary edition of the self-illustrated version was published in the Puffin Modern Classics series. It has also been issued in abridged versions, sometimes retitled "Gobbolino the kitchen cat". Dame Maureen Diane Lipman (born 10 May 1946) is an English actress, writer and comedian. She trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and her stage work has included appearances with the National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Helen Nicoll (10 October 1937 – 30 September 2012) was an English author of children's books. She is best known for the ''Meg and Mog'' series. In total, she wrote 17 books. She worked with Jan Pienkowski (illustrator) for over forty years on her books. In 1983, she founded an audiobook company called Cover to Cover. It was bought by BBC Worldwide in 2000.
