Meeting Of The Waters (EP)
''Meeting of the Waters'' is the ninth EP by American experimental pop band Animal Collective, released first on Record Store Day, April 22, 2017. It is the second extended play released by the band in 2017. The EP was recorded live on location in the Amazon Rainforest. It is notable for containing many recordings of animal calls and some sounds being recorded underwater, as well as being documented in the Viceland series ''Earth Works''. This is the band's first release to feature only Avey Tare (David Portner) and Geologist (Brian Weitz) and currently the only to feature this particular lineup of the collective. In 2020, the band announced plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the EP to Cultural Survival, an indigenous rights charity. Animal Collective
Animal Collective is an American experimental pop band formed in Baltimore, Maryland. Its members consist of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Geologist (Brian Weitz), and Deakin (Josh Dibb). Viceland
Viceland (stylized in all caps), and Vice TV in the United States, are brands used for television channels owned and programmed by Vice Media. ''Eucalyptus'' is the second solo studio album by American recording artist Avey Tare. Released on July 21, 2017, it is Avey Tare's second album, following his 2010 debut '' Down There'', Recorded by fellow Animal Collective bandmate Joshua Dibb, it features past collaborators Eyvind Kang and Angel Deradoorian. Production A press release by Domino described the album as "an electroacoustic movement through leaves, rocks and dust. Written on sunlit bedroom afternoon in Los Angeles, practiced in the dark early hours of the California twilight, and slept on under Big Sur skies." Cultural Survival (founded 1972) is a nonprofit group based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States, which is dedicated to defending the human rights of indigenous peoples. David Michael Portner (born April 24, 1979), also known by his moniker Avey Tare, is a musician and songwriter who co-founded the American experimental pop band Animal Collective. He has released three solo albums, as well as three collaborative albums with Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) which were later retroactively classified under Animal Collective's discography. Animal Collective Portner met Animal Collective's Deakin (Josh Dibb), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), and Geologist (Brian Weitz) in high school. For years, the four of them swapped homemade recordings, shared musical ideas and performed in different group configurations. Portner recorded the ''Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished'' album with Lennox, and initially released the recording on the band's own Animal label in 1999.
