''Meet Me on Broadway'' is a 1946 American comedy film directed by Leigh Jason and written by George Bricker and Jack Henley. The film stars Marjorie Reynolds, Frederick Brady, Jinx Falkenburg, Spring Byington, Allen Jenkins, Gene Lockhart and Loren Tindall. The film was released on January 26, 1946, by Columbia Pictures. Synopsis A Broadway theatre, Broadway director clashes one too many times with his producer and quits the show and takes his girlfriend the leading lady with him. He believes he can set up more successfully on his own, but soon finds himself in deep financial trouble. He manages to get a booking at a country club but only gets his reluctant girlfriend to perform their by convincing her he has been made manager of it. Leigh Jason
Leigh Jason (July 26, 1904 – February 19, 1979) was an American film director and screenwriter. He was born in New York, New York, and died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. He married Ruth Harriet Louise in 1927 at Temple B'nai B'rith, with William Wyler as his best man. Louise was the first woman photographer active in Hollywood, and ran Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's portrait studio from 1925 to 1930. They had a son, Leigh Jr., who died of leukemia when he was six years old, and Louise died in 1940, along with their second son, in complications from childbirth. Edward DeKalb Acuff (June 3, 1903 – December 17, 1956) was an American stage and film actor. He frequently was cast as a droll comic relief, in the support of the star. A country club is a privately owned club, often with a membership quota and admittance by invitation or sponsorship, that generally offers both a variety of recreational sports and facilities for dining and entertaining.
