Mediterranean Opera and Ballet Club ( tr, Akdeniz Opera ve Bale Kulübü, AKOB) is a non-profit cultural organization based in Mersin, Turkey. History Mersin Culture Center Association, another association known for valuable contributions in the past to musical life of Mersin, is presently engaged to Mersin International Music Festival. Thus AKOB was founded in 2008 to take over and revive its old spirit and mission under the guidance and direction of the renowned composer and maestro Selman Ada, who was then living in Mersin,Club page

Selman Ada (born February 24, 1953, Ceyhan) is a Turkish composer, conductor and pianist. When he started to conduct the Istanbul Opera Orchestra in 1973 at the age of 20, he went down in history as “the youngest opera conductor in the world”. Early years He was born in 1953 in Ceyhan. Nevit Kodallı (12 December 1924, Mersin – 1 September 2009, Mersin) was a Turkish composer of western-influenced classical music including operas and ballets.
