''Mediocre'' () is the debut studio album by Mexican singer-songwriter Ximena Sariñana, released in the United States on 12 February 2008 via Warner Music Mexico. ''Mediocre'' reached number ten on the ''Billboard'' Latin Pop Albums, and spawned the hit single " Vidas Paralelas". The album gained additional attention when the iTunes Store featured Sariñana's song "Normal" as the ''canción de la semana'' —iTunes' free Latino song of the week— during the week of 8 July 2008. ''Mediocre'' garnered positive reviews from many critics, receiving five stars from '' SoMinty'', four stars from '' Time Out'', and four stars from ''Rolling Stone''. Ximena Sariñana
Ximena Sariñana Rivera (; born October 29, 1985) is a Mexican singer-songwriter and actress. In 2009, she received critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for her debut album, '' Mediocre''. Early life Ximena Sariñana was born in Guadalajara, Mexico to producer/director Fernando Sariñana and screenwriter Carolina Rivera and was raised in Mexico City. When she was two years old, Sariñana attended an Ella Fitzgerald concert, claiming this to be the beginning of her interest in music and one of her biggest influences. She soon started listening to other artists such as Paul Simon and Tracy Chapman. She would often be seen singing and dancing and dressed up in costumes as a child.
