MediaBanda is a Chilean musical group that is characterized by its Eclecticism in music, eclectic and energetic proposal, nourished by several styles such as rock music, rock, jazz, funk, pop music, pop, Music of Latin America, latin American fusion and contemporary classical music, contemporary music, among others. It was formed in the year 2000 in Santiago de Chile by saxophonist and composer Cristián Crisosto. The ensemble's line-up is an expanded rock band that has varied in time but usually has a woodwind section as protagonists in addition to lead voices and a refined rhythm section. Name The name of the band, MediaBanda, means literally "half band" in spanish language, hinting to be half of a big band, however in Chilean Spanish, the term ''media'' is used as big, huge, as well as awesome and impressive. Fulano was a Chilean rock music, rock band. They were one of the most important bands in the development of jazz-rock in Chile or, as described by musicologist Juan Pablo González, of "anti-hegemonic eclecticism". With an oeuvre consisting of six high quality and virtuosic albums, they have been widely recognised as pillars of jazz-rock and experimental music in Latin America . Fulano was founded in 1984 in Santiago de Chile by members of ''Santiago del Nuevo Extremo (band), Santiago del Nuevo Extremo:'' Jorge Campos (bass), Cristián Crisosto, (saxophones and flute), Jaime Vivanco (keyboards), and Willy Valenzuela (drums); joined by Arlette Jequier (voice and clarinet), and Jaime Vásquez (saxophones and flute).
