Medellín
Medellín ( or ), officially the Municipality of Medellín ( es, Municipio de Medellín), is the second-largest city in Colombia, after Bogotá, and the capital of the department of Antioquia. It is located in the Aburrá Valley, a central region of the Andes Mountains in South America. According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics, the city had an estimated population of 2,508,452 according to the 2018 census. With its surrounding area that includes nine other cities, the metropolitan area of Medellín is the second-largest urban agglomeration in Colombia in terms of population and economy, with more than 4 million people. Medellín Metro
The Medellín Metro (Spanish: ''Metro de Medellín'') is a rapid transit system that crosses the Metropolitan Area of Medellín from North to South and from Centre to West. It first opened for service on 30 November 1995. As one of the first implementations of modern mass transportation in Colombia and the only metro system in the country, the Medellín Metro is a product of the urban planning of the Antioquia department of Colombia. It is part of the Aburrá Valley Integrated Transport System (''Sistema Integrado de Transporte del Valle de Aburrá'', SITVA). The city of Medellín and its urban complex (ten cities in the Aburrá Valley) had a period of relatively recent industrial development that started in the 1930s. SITVA
SITVA (''Sistema Integrado de Transporte del Valle de Aburrá'' in Spanish or Aburrá Valley Integrated Transport System) is the public transportation system of Medellín and its metropolitan area. It allows people from the Metropolitan Area of Medellín to move across the ten Aburrá Valley municipalities using different transport modes. It uses integrated fares and a single payment card ( Cívica card). Components SITVA includes the Medellín Metro, currently comprising two lines: ''Line A'', which is long and serves 21 stations, and ''Line B'', which is long and serves 6 stations (plus San Antonio station, the transfer station with Line A). El Poblado (Medellín)
El Poblado is the 14th commune in the metropolitan area of the city of Medellín, Colombia. According to a 2005 census the population was 94,704, distributed among its land area of 23 km2, and by the year 2015, it had a population of 128,839. The comuna consists of 24 barrios, and is located in the south-east of the city. Its western boundary with the comuna of Guayabal runs along the Medellín River; to the south, it borders the city of Envigado, to the east, the township of Santa Elena, and to the north, the comunas of La Candelaria and Buenos Aires. Aburrá Valley (in Spanish ''Valle de Aburrá''), is the natural river basin of the Medellín River and one of the most populous valleys of Colombia in its Andean Region with near 4 million inhabitants in its biggest urban agglomeration: The Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley. José María Córdova International Airport is an international airport located in the city of Rionegro, south-east of Medellín, and is the second largest airport in Colombia after El Dorado International Airport of Bogotá in terms of infrastructure and passenger service. Daniel Quintero
Daniel Quintero Calle (born 26 July 1980) is a Colombian politician who has served as the mayor of Medellín since 2020. Quintero was controversially suspended from 10 May to 21 June 2022 by inspector general Margarita Cabello Blanco for allegedly attempting to interfere in the 2022 presidential election. The youngest individual to hold that office thus far, Quintero was previously the Deputy Minister of the Digital Economy from 2016 to 2017, in the government of President Juan Manuel Santos.
