Medan Post Office
The Medan Post and Telegraph Office (Indonesian: Kantor Pos Medan) is a historic building in Medan, Indonesia. It was designed by Ir. S. Snuyf from Burgelijke Openbare Werken (BOW) and opened in 1911. Located in downtown Medan, several other important colonial era buildings are located nearby including Old City Hall Medan, Inna Dharma Deli Hotel, Grand Mosque, Maimoon Palace, Immanuel Church, Tjong A Fie Mansion and Sri Mariamman Temple. The post office remains in operation and includes a stamp collection exhibit. Snuyf also designed Palembang City Hall (built 1928–1931). Hotel De Boer
NV Hotel Mijn de Boer (more popularly called by Hotel de Boer, now Inna Dharma Deli Hotel) is a Dutch colonial style hotel located on the Cremerweg (now Jalan Balai Kota), Medan, Dutch East Indies, current-day Indonesia. The hotel was built in 1898 by Workum native and Dutch businessman Aeint Herman de Boer. De Boer migrated to Dutch East Indies in late nineteenth century. First, he settled in Surabaya and became a part proprietor of a restaurant in Surabaya. In 1809, he migrated to Medan and began his new business. In early 1898, he built Hotel De Boer which just cointaned a restaurant, a bar, and seven rooms. In 1909, de Boer expanded his hotel by adding 40 rooms. In 1930, Hotel De Boer was expanded by adding 120 rooms and a huge hall. Great Mosque Of Medan
Grand Mosque of Medan or Masjid Raya Al-Mashun is a mosque located in Medan, Indonesia. The mosque was built in the year 1906 and completed in 1909. In beginning of its establishment, the mosque was a part of the Maimun palace complex. Its architectural style combines Middle Eastern, Indian and Spanish elements. The mosque has an octagonal shape and has wings to the south, east, north and west. History Sultan Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alam as a leader of Sultanate of Deli started the development of Masjid Al Mashun on 21 August 1906 (1 Rajab 1324 AH). The entire development was completed on 10 September 1909 (25 Sha'ban 1329 AH) and marked by the implementation of the first Friday prayers at the mosque. Maimoon Palace
Maimoon Palace or Maimun Palace ( id, Istana Maimun) is an ''istana'' (royal palace) of the Sultanate of Deli and a well-known landmark in Medan, the capital city of Northern Sumatra, Indonesia. Today, it serves as a museum. The name is the Arabic word for "blessing". Built by Sultan Ma'mun Al Rashid Perkasa Alamyah in years 1887–1891, the palace was designed by the Dutch architect Theodoor van Erp and covers 2,772 m2 with a total of 30 rooms. The palace has become a popular tourist destination in the city, not solely because of its historical heritage status, but also because of its unique interior design of the palace, combining elements of Malay cultural heritage, Islamic and Indian architecture, with Spanish and Italian furniture and fittings. Tjong A Fie Mansion () is a two-story mansion in Medan, North Sumatra, built by Tjong A Fie (1860–1921) a Hakka merchant who came to own much of the land in Medan through his plantations, later becoming 'Majoor der Chineezen' (leader of the Chinese') in Medan and constructing the Medan-Belawan railway. Tjong A Fie is said to be related to Cheong Fatt Tze, who built the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion in Penang Penang ( ms, Pulau Pinang, is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait. Sri Mariamman Temple, Medan
Sri Mariamman Temple is Medan's oldest Hindu Temple. This temple was built in 1884 for the worship of Goddess Mariamman. The temple is situated in the area known as Kampung Madras or Medan's Little India. This temple is also devoted to the Hindu Gods Ganesha, and Murugan, children of Mariamman. The Gate is decorated by ''gopuram'', namely storey tower which can usually be found at the gate of the Hindus temples in South India. The temple is a meeting point for worshippers during Thaipusam and Deevapali festivals. The Palembang Mayoral Office, also known as Kantor Ledeng, is an office building in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, which is used as the seat of the municipal government of the city. It was built as a water tower with an office for the colonial government on the lower floors by the Dutch, and was later also used by Japanese authorities during the Japanese occupation of the city. History The building was constructed between 1928 and 1931, with S. Snuijf as the architect.
