Kevin Gerard Meaney (April 23, 1956 – October 21, 2016) was an American stand-up comedian and actor. Early life Meaney graduated from Valhalla High School in Westchester County, New York, and attended State University of New York at Morrisville. Career Meaney came to Boston from upstate New York to begin his career in comedy in 1980. He appeared on the A&E Network television series An Evening at the Improv, in 1982. He did stand-up in San Francisco. Meaney had a show called the Sweeney and Meaney Hour at Stitches Comedy Club in Boston. His big break into mainstream culture may be considered to be his first HBO comedy special in 1986, followed by his debut performance on ''The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson'' in 1987. Audrey Lilian Meaney (19 March 1931 – 14 February 2021) was an archaeologist and historian specialising in the study of Anglo-Saxon England. She published several books on the subject, including ''Gazetteer of Early Anglo-Saxon Burial Sites'' (1964) and '' Anglo-Saxon Amulets and Curing Stones'' (1981). Biography Meaney was born in England on 19 March 1931, and took a BA in English at Oxford. In 1955, she was appointed Carlisle Research Student at Girton College, Cambridge, to undertake her PhD in the Department of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic (completed in 1959), entitled ''A Correlation of Literary and Archaeological Evidence for Anglo-Saxon Heathenism''. Thomas Meaney
Thomas Meaney (11 August 1931 – 26 December 2022) was an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as a Minister of State from 1980 to 1981. He served as a Teachta Dála (TD) from 1965 to 1981. Before entering politics Meaney worked as a farmer. His father Con Meaney was also a Fianna Fáil TD. When his father retired at the 1965 general election, Tom Meaney succeeded him as the Fianna Fáil TD for the Cork Mid constituency. He was re-elected at every subsequent general election until his retirement from politics at the November 1982 general election. In March 1980, he was appointed Minister of State at the Department of Industry, Commerce and Energy, serving until June 1981. He was a member of Cork County Council from 1970 to 1977. Sean Meaney (born 8 July 1986) is a former professional rugby league footballer who last played for the Manly Sea Eagles in the NSW Cup. He primarily played at fullback but could also play at five-eighth or on the wing. Biography Meaney grew up in London and Slough, England with his brother Colm (who is not the same as the Star Trek actor Colm Meaney). He has studied martial arts since childhood and has a black belt in shotokan karate. John Francis Meaney (19 November 1919 – 13 January 2000) was an English professional footballer who played for Crewe Alexandra in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Meaney was born in Stoke-on-Trent on 19 November 1919. He first signed for Wolves in 1939, but the outbreak of war interrupted his career. After his active service, he was expected to join either Port Vale or Stoke City. He joined Crewe on 1 March 1947 from non-league north Staffordshire side Ravensdale, and played as a wing half/inside forward, before converting to a left half. Meaney made his Crewe debut on 22 March 1947 against New Brighton, and scored his first Crewe goal on his second appearance, against Rochdale at Gresty Road, on 29 March 1947.
