Alfred F. "Alf" Meakin (born August 30, 1938) is a retired track and field athlete. Athletics career He represented Great Britain in the men's 100 metres at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. He won the bronze medal in the men's 4 × 100 meters relay at the 1962 European Athletics Championships in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, alongside Ron Jones, Berwyn Jones, and David Jones. Breanne Knapp (born April 16, 1990 in Winnipeg, Manitoba as Breanne Meakin) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. She is a four-time Manitoba Junior Champion and a one-time Canadian junior champion (2009). She has won a silver medal at the World Junior Curling Championships. Career Juniors Knapp had a successful Junior career. At the Canadian Junior Curling Championships she won silver in 2007 and gold in 2009. While playing lead for the Kaitlyn Lawes team at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships Knapp won a silver medal. 2010–2013 In 2010, Knapp would get a call from Cathy Overton-Clapham, who was unexpectedly dropped from Jennifer Jones's successful team, to play third stones on a new team, which included Raunora Westcott and Leslie Wilson, who were also let go from Jill Thurston's Manitoba team. Douglas Meakin (28 March 1929 – 13 February 1998) was an English first-class cricketer and Royal Air Force airman. Meakin made his debut in minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire against Cambridgeshire at Luton in the 1952 Minor Counties Championship. He played minor counties cricket for Bedfordshire intermittently until 1962, making 21 appearances in the Minor Counties Championship. While serving as a non-commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force, Meakin played first-class cricket for the Combined Services cricket team, making his first-class debut against Warwickshire at Birmingham in 1959. He made a further appearance in 1959 against Somerset, before making two more first-class appearances in 1962 against Cambridge University and Ireland. Harry Meakin (8 September 1919 – 1986) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Stoke City. Career Meakin was born in Stoke-on-Trent and joined Stoke City from local feeder club Summerbank during World War II. He was signed as a backup defender but found himself playing as a regular in 1947–48 after injury to key defender Neil Franklin. Lewis Henry Meakin
Lewis Henry Meakin (12 July 1850 – 15 August 1917) was an English- American Impressionist landscape artist. Born in Newcastle, England, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with his family in 1863. After studying art in Europe he returned to Cincinnati where he taught at the Cincinnati Art Academy. Among his students were Frances Farrand Dodge, Edna Boies Hopkins, Maud Hunt Squire, and Ethel Mars. Artist George Bellows called him “one of the best landscape painters in America." A skilled painter of landscapes, Meakin is known for his scenes along the Ohio River, the American and Canadian Rockies, and his depictions of summer in Camden, Maine and Cape Ann, Massachusetts. Meakin began working in a tonalist manner, then moved toward Impressionism around the turn of the century. Mohan Meakin is a large group of companies which started with Asia's first brewery incorporated in 1855 (but established much earlier) by Edward Dyer at Kasauli in the Himalayan Mountains in India under the name Dyer Breweries. History In the late 1840s, Edward Abraham Dyer, father of Colonel Reginald Edward Harry Dyer of Jallianwala Bagh massacre, moved from England to set up the first brewery in India (later incorporated as Dyer Breweries in 1855) at Kasauli in the Himalayas. The Kasauli brewery launched India's and indeed Asia's first beer, Lion, which was in great demand by the thirsty British administrators and troops stationed in the sweltering heat of India.
