Md. Abdul Wahhab Miah
Abdul Wahhab Miya (born 11 November 1951) is a Bangladeshi jurist. He was appointed as acting Chief Justice of Bangladesh when former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha left. Career Miya was listed as a High Court Division judge in 1976. Justice Miah was appointed an additional judge to the High Court Division on 24 October 1999 and became permanent Judge in 2001. He was elevated to the Appellate Division on 23 February 2011. He was made acting Chief Justice of Bangladesh when former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha left. He resigned from his post on 2 February 2018 though he was set to retire on Nov 10, 2018. The chief justice of Bangladesh ( bn, বাংলাদেশের প্রধান বিচারপতি — ) is the chief amongst the judges of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and also head of the whole judicial establishments, including subordinate courts. The chief justice is appointed by the president of Bangladesh. The chief justice sits in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court with other judges to hear and decide cases, presides over meetings of the full Supreme Court to transact business relating to administration of the court, and supervises the discipline of the judges and magistrates of the subordinate courts. Surendra Kumar Sinha
Surendra Kumar Sinha (born 1 February 1951), commonly known as SK Sinha is a Bangladeshi lawyer and jurist who served as the 21st Chief Justice of Bangladesh. He resigned from the position in November 2017 amid the 16th amendment verdict controversy. Early life and education Sinha was born in a Kshatriya Family in the present-day Tilakpur village in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar District in 1951 to Bishnupriya Manipuri parents, Lalit Mohan Sinha and Dhanabati Sinha. He obtained his bachelor of laws degree in 1974 from the Sylhet Law College. Career Sinha enrolled as an advocate of the District Court, Sylhet in 1974 and practiced in that court under the guidance of two civil and criminal lawyers and conducted sessions trial cases independently till the end of 1977. Syed Mahmud Hossain (born 31 December 1954) was the 22nd Chief Justice of Bangladesh. He retired on 30 December 2021. Early life and education Hossain was born in 1954 to Syed Mustafa Ali (d. 2018) and Begum Kawsar Jahan. He completed his education life in Comilla town. The secondary school certificate from Comilla Zilla School in 1972, HSC examination from Comilla Victoria College in 1974 and passed from the same college in 1976 in the BSc examination. In 1980, he obtained LLB degree from Comilla Law College.
