McPhee, McPhie, MacPhee or Macphee is a Scottish surname. Like MacFie, it is usually regarded as a shorter version of McDuffie, which is an anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic name ''mac Dhuibhshithe'' ("descendant of the dark fairy") and originated in Colonsay. Scottish People
The Scots ( sco, Scots Fowk; gd, Albannaich) are an ethnic group and nation native to Scotland. Historically, they emerged in the early Middle Ages from an amalgamation of two Celtic-speaking peoples, the Picts and Gaels, who founded the Kingdom of Scotland (or ''Alba'') in the 9th century. Brian McPhee
Brian McPhee (born 23 October 1970 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish retired footballer who last played for Wishaw Juniors. He had a long career as a striker in the Scottish Football League with several clubs. Career McPhee joined Queen's Park in 1993 and turned professional with Airdrieonians in 1996. During his time at Airdrie, McPhee narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier Division when the club lost in an end of season play-off to Hibernian in 1997. After growing dissatisfied with his regular use as a substitute by manager Alex MacDonald, McPhee rejected a new contract offer from Airdrie and after trials in Greece and Holland, signed for Livingston in July 1998. Livingston won the Division One title in 2001 however after not featuring in the early matches of the following seasons Premier Division campaign, McPhee asked to be placed on the transfer list. Ian McPhee
Ian McPhee (born 31 January 1961 in Perth, Scotland) is a Scottish former professional footballer who spent most of his career with Forfar Athletic. Career McPhee was with Celtic as a youth but failed to make a senior appearance and moved to Forfar, where he spent nine years. McPhee moved to Dundee United in his mid-twenties but managed only a dozen league appearances during his time at Tannadice and dropped down a division to join Airdrieonians partway through the 1988–89 season. Hilary McPhee
Hilary Jane McPhee (born 1941) is an Australian writer and editor. She was awarded an Order of Australia for service to the Arts in 2003. Biography McPhee was born in 1941. She is a graduate of the University of Melbourne. She was a founding director, with Diana Gribble, of McPhee Gribble Publishers, 1975–89, and Chair of the Australia Council for the Arts and of the Major Organizations Board 1994-7, a founding director and sometime editor of online political newsletter NewMatilda.com. Gloria Juanita McPhee OBE (née Darrell; 10 November 1926 – 18 February 2007) was a Bermudian politician who served as a member of the House of Assembly from 1968 to 1980, representing the United Bermuda Party (UBP). George Washington McPhee
George Washington McPhee, (November 17, 1880 – November 23, 1971) was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. He represented 2nd Queens in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island in 1911 and Yorkton in the House of Commons of Canada from 1925 to 1940 as a Liberal. He was born in St. Catherines, Lot 65, Prince Edward Island, the son of Annie Rogerson (née McPhee), and was educated at Prince of Wales College. McPhee taught school for five years, then articled in law, was admitted to the bar in 1910 and practised briefly in Charlottetown. George McPhee
George McPhee (born July 2, 1958) is a Canadian ice hockey executive currently serving as the president of hockey operations for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). McPhee served general manager of the Washington Capitals and has also served as alternate governor, vice president and special assistant to the general manager of the New York Islanders. Resigning as the Golden Knights general manager on September 1, 2019, McPhee continues to serve as president of hockey operations. Before becoming an executive, McPhee was also a professional ice hockey Forward. Frank Melvin McPhee (March 19, 1931 - March 31, 2011) was an American football defensive back who played one season with the Chicago Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Cardinals in the thirteenth round of the 1953 NFL Draft. McPhee played college football at Princeton University and attended Chaney High School in Youngstown, Ohio. Frank McPhee
Frank McPhee (21 October 1948 – 10 May 2000) was a long-time Glasgow gangland boss. McPhee was reported to have built his "underworld empire" on drugs and robbery. He was jailed in 1978 for five years for robbery and served another five in 1986 for an armed raid. In 1990, he was cleared of involvement in a £42,000 armed raid but was sentenced to eight years for his involvement in a £200,000 drug deal in 1992. In 1997, McPhee was prosecuted for the killing of William "Worm" Toye, who was found stabbed to death in Perth Prison, where McPhee was serving time. A jury found the case not proven. In 1998, three months after his release from prison, McPhee was accused of the murder by strangulation of Chris McGrory, but the case was again found not proven. It was reported that a £5,000 'contract' had been put out on his life. Colin Carhart McPhee (March 15, 1900 – January 7, 1964) was a Canadian-American composer and ethnomusicologist. He is best known for being the first Western composer to make a musicological study of Bali, and developing American gamelan along with fellow composer Lou Harrison.
