Andrew Ross McMaster
Andrew Ross McMaster, (November 6, 1876 – April 27, 1937) was a Canadian politician. He was born in Montreal to Captain John Andrew McMaster and his wife Amelia and educated at Montreal High School, Montreal Collegiate Institute and at McGill University and the University of Edinburgh. Graduating with a law degree, he was admitted to the Quebec bar in 1901 and was made King's Counsel in 1910. McMaster practiced law in Montreal with the firm of Fleet, Falconer, Cook, Brodie, Magee, Papineau, Campbell, Couture, Kerry and Bruneau before becoming Crown Attorney for the district of Montreal. Entering politics, McMaster was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 1917 federal election defeating Brigadier General Dennis Draper in the riding of Brome. The election was held as a result of the Conscription Crisis of 1917 and McMaster ran for the anti-conscription Laurier Liberals. He was re-elected in the 1921 federal election as a Liberal. Kyron McMaster (born 3 January 1997) is an athlete from the British Virgin Islands specialising in the 400 metres hurdles. He represented his country at the 2017 World Championships where he finished in the top three in his heat only to be disqualified for a lane infringement. Earlier, he won a bronze medal at the 2016 World U20 Championships. His personal best in the event is 47.08 seconds set in finishing fourth in the final of the 2020 Olympic Games 400m hurdles, on August 3, 2021. This is the current national record. William McMaster (businessman)
William McMaster (June 10, 1851 – May 5, 1930) was a distinguished Canadian businessman who had two successful careers. McMaster was born in Montreal on June 10, 1851 and married Lucy A. Greene from Vergennes, Vermont on September 18, 1877. He died in Montreal on May 5, 1930 at the age of 78. The municipality McMasterville in Southwestern Quebec was named after him. Career He served 35 years at the Montreal Rolling Mills and retired as managing director in 1910 at the time of the formation of the Steel Company of Canada (later " Stelco"). William McMaster
William McMaster (24 December 1811 – 22 September 1887) was a Canadian wholesaler, senator and banker in the 19th century. A director of the Bank of Montreal from 1864 to 1867, he was a driving force behind the creation of the Canadian Bank of Commerce of which he was the founding president from 1867 to his death in 1887. He sat in the Senate of Canada from 1867 to 1887 as a Liberal. He also helped found McMaster University in Toronto (later moved to Hamilton), Ontario. Sherman McMaster
Sherman McMaster (1853–1892) was an outlaw turned lawman, who was one of the six men involved in the Earp vendetta ride. Early life Sherman W. McMaster was born in 1853 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Sylvester W. McMaster. Not much is known of his life before heading out west, but he moved to Texas and became a Texas Ranger. He met "Curly Bill" Brocius, who was a prisoner under McMaster's Ranger division. In 1878 Curly Bill escaped from prison, allegedly helped by McMaster. Soon after, along with Brocius, Johnny Barnes, and Pony Diehl, McMaster moved to Arkansas. Life as an outlaw and gunfighter McMaster worked for the Texas Rangers in 1878, the same year that he first met Brocius. Sam McMaster (born May 3, 1944) is a former NHL General Manager of the Los Angeles Kings (NHL), whom he managed from 1994 to 1997. McMaster served as the general manager for both the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League, prior to working with the Kings. Que McMaster (born 1942) is a former collegiate track and field coach with extensive experience at Baylor University, Odessa College and the University of Texas at San Antonio. McMaster led the UTSA Roadrunners to their first Southland Conference outdoor track and field championship in 2001.
