Edward McLarty
Edward McLarty (1 December 1848 – 13 August 1917) was an Australian pastoralist and politician who was a member of the Legislative Council of Western Australia from 1894 to 1916, representing South-West Province. McLarty was born in Pinjarra, in Western Australia's Peel region. His brother, John Pollard McLarty, was also a member of parliament. McLarty managed a run at Mandurah for a period in the 1860s, and later had his own stud in Pinjarra, on a property of . Prominent in agricultural circles, he was elected to the Murray Road Board in 1875 (on which he would serve for most of the rest of his life), and was also appointed a justice of the peace. McLarty was elected to parliament at the 1894 Legislative Council elections, which were the first for that body under responsible government. Gary McLarty (January 16, 1941 – October 11, 2014) was an American stunt performer and stunt coordinator for film and television. His abilities earned him the nickname "Whiz Kid" in Hollywood. McLarty performed stunts in over 150 films between 1966 and 2004, among them ''The Wild Bunch'', ''Little Big Man'', '' The Longest Yard'', ''Blade Runner'', '' The Terminator'', '' Jurassic Park'', ''Heat'', and ''Collateral''. He also performed in numerous John Wayne films, including '' The War Wagon'', '' The Undefeated'', ''Chisum'', ''McQ'', and '' Rooster Cogburn''. Hector Neil McLarty
Hector Neil McLarty (15 March 1851 – 24 November 1912) was a Western Australian Police officer, and customs detective. During his service as a police officer he accompanied future Premier John Forrest on two expeditions and was in charge of the officers attempting to capture the Fenian escapees on the Catalpa rescue, Catalpa. Personal life McLarty married Elizabeth Campbell in March 1875. They had six children: three boys and three girls. William Jackson McLarty (April 24, 1919 – July 10, 2011) was a surrealist painter, printmaker, and teacher of the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. History Born in Seattle, Washington, he moved with his family to Portland, Oregon, in 1921. He attended Benson High School in Portland, the Portland Museum Art School, and the American Artists School in New York (1940–1941). After two years in New York he returned to Portland, and in 1945 he began teaching at the Museum Art School where he remained until his retirement. John Pollard McLarty (c. 1842 – 7 January 1909) was an Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 1904 until his death, representing the seat of Murray. McLarty was born in Dardanup, in Western Australia's Peel region. He farmed by the Murray River, and in 1870 was elected to the Murray Road Board. From 1881 to 1890, McLarty served as managing director of the Kimberley Pastoralist Company, helping to establish Liveringa Station. He served as chairman of the West Kimberley Road Board in 1884. She played for Australia in the first women's Test match. A right-arm medium-fast bowler, she claimed 11 wickets in international cricket at an average of 20.36. Sir Duncan Ross McLarty, (17 March 1891 – 22 December 1962) was an Australian politician and the 17th Premier of Western Australia. Early life McLarty was born in Pinjarra, Western Australia, the youngest of seven children of Edward McLarty, a farmer and grazier and member of the Western Australian Legislative Council, and his wife Mary Jane, née Campbell. He attended Pinjarra State School and the Perth Boys' High School. On 12 January 1916 he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force at the Blackboy Hill depot. On 27 March he was promoted to corporal and assigned to the 44th Battalion, arriving in England on 21 July. The 44th Battalion departed England for the Western Front on 25 November 1916. McLarty was promoted to sergeant on 29 March 1917. Lake McLarty is a freshwater lake and associated nature reserve on the Swan Coastal Plain of Western Australia. The lake is named after a prominent pioneering family which settled in the district in the early 1860s. It lies about south of Perth on the eastern side of the Harvey Estuary and forms part of the Peel-Yalgorup System Ramsar site. It is an important area for waders, or shorebirds, and is a well-known birdwatching site. Description The lake is oval and shallow with a gently sloping bed. Maximum open water coverage is an area of about (north-south) by (east-west). It lies in a natural depression in the coastal plain and is separated from the eastern shoreline of the Harvey Estuary by a vegetated fossil dune ridge some across.
