McKinley School (Columbus, Indiana)
The McKinley School, also known as North Side School, is a historic school building located at Seventeenth St. and Home Ave., in Columbus, Indiana. It was designed by architect Charles Franklin Sparrell and built in 1892. It is a - story, five-bay, Richardsonian Romanesque style red brick building with a limestone base and hipped roof. It measures 73 feet wide and 38 feet deep. An additional structure was erected in 1942, and measures approximately 127 feet wide and 38 feet deep. Poland, Ohio
Poland is a village in eastern Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. A suburb about southeast of Youngstown, the population was 2,463 at the 2020 census. It is a part of the Youngstown–Warren metropolitan area. History In 1796, Poland Township was surveyed and registered as township 1, range 1 of the Connecticut Western Reserve of the Connecticut Land Company. Turhand Kirtland was a member of a group of surveyors led by Moses Cleaveland, and is considered to have founded the community of Poland in 1798. The earliest settlers primarily originated from Connecticut and Pennsylvania. An early grist mill was built on the Yellow Creek in 1802 by Jonathan Fowler, whose family was the first to settle in the village. Poland was named in honor of the country of Poland for its assistance during the American Revolutionary War, either due to a specific Polish hero or due to general gratitude towards the nation. McKinley Elementary School (Wyandotte, Michigan)
McKinley Elementary School is a former school building located at 640 Plum Street in Wyandotte, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. History The first school building in what is now Wyandotte was constructed in 1837. A new school as constructed in 1856, and a Central Union high school was built in 1869. The first school on the site of the present McKinley Elementary School was constructed in 1872, and was known as the Third Ward school. This school was demolished in 1901, and replaced with a new building designed by Malcomson and Higginbotham, and named McKinley Elementary School. By 1937, this was the oldest elementary school in the district, and the school board began considering replacing it. After exploring funding sources, the board finally approved construction of a new building in late 1938. The school district hired architect Carl R. McKinley Elementary School is located on the east side of Davenport, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. History The Davenport Board of Education did an evaluation of its elementary school facilities in the 1920s as well as a study of the projected growth of the city and where that growth would take place. The projection was for the number of elementary-aged students to rise by almost three thousand students between 1930 and 1950, but no building plan based on these projections was prepared. with The elementary school population, however, already rose to that projection by 1936. The board decided at that time to close twelve of its old elementary school buildings and build six new ones.
