McGill (Montreal Metro)
McGill station is a Montreal Metro station in the borough of Ville-Marie in the downtown core of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is operated by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and serves the Green Line. The station opened on October 14, 1966, as part of the original network of the Metro. It is currently the third busiest station (after Berri–UQAM station and Guy-Concordia station) in the network measured by number of passengers entering the system. Prior to 2002, it was the busiest station in the network. From 2024, the station will be served by the Réseau express métropolitain (REM). Brandon Municipal Airport (also known as Brandon Airport or McGill Field) is an airport located north of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. It serves the City of Brandon, the Westman and Parkland regions of Manitoba, and eastern Saskatchewan. McGill College Avenue (officially in french: avenue McGill College) is a street in downtown Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Named for McGill University, the street was widened in the 1980s and transformed into a scenic avenue with McGill's Roddick Gates on Sherbrooke Street at its north end and the Place Ville Marie plaza at its south end. McGill Street (Montreal)
McGill Street (officially in french: rue McGill) is a street in Montreal named after James McGill after whom McGill University is named. The former head office building of Canadian National Railway Company, built for its predecessor Grand Trunk Railway, still stands on McGill Street and is now occupied by Quebec government offices. In 1871, an advertisement for the Albion Hotel in an Ottawa newspaper called McGill Street "the great thoroughfare and commercial centre of the city". The McCord Museum of Canadian History refers to the street as "an important artery in Montreal." McGill, Nevada
McGill is a census-designated place (CDP) in White Pine County, Nevada, United States. The population was 1,148 at the 2010 census. History In 1872, John Cowger established a ranch in the Steptoe Valley and acquired the water rights for the area. William Lyons and William McGill purchased the ranch in 1886. A post office was established at the ranch, now named McGill Ranch, in 1891. The Nevada Consolidated Copper Company had numerous mines in the region and was seeking a partner to create a smelter in the area. The Cumberland and Ely Mining Corporation had acquired of land near the ranch and thought it would be ideal for a smelter location due to access to a plentiful water source. The two companies formed a partnership, the Steptoe Valley Smelting and Mining Company. In 1906, a pipeline was built to bring water from Duck Creek to reservoirs near the smelter site and construction began on the smelter. The smelter was completed and operations began on May 15, 1908. McGill Motorsports
McGill Motorsports was a NASCAR Busch Series team owned by John and Nancy McGill. It fielded the No. 36 Chevy for a few years. The team debuted in 2003 as DCT Motorsports with Steve Grissom driving the No. 61 Chevrolet in three races. For their final two races of the season they changed their number and ran the No. 36 Chevrolet. DCT would post its best finish of the season at Richmond, a 14th-place finish. In 2004, Steve Grissom and Travis Geisler shared the driving duties at the start of the season. Grissom left the team in May 2004 and Geisler took over full-time driving duties for the team. Stanton Barrett drove in the last three races of the season. Grissom had the best finish of the year for the team, when he finished 11th at Rockingham. McGill Family (Monrovia)
The McGill family of Monrovia, Liberia, was a free African-American family from Baltimore, Maryland, who emigrated to Monrovia in the 19th century. Among the early American settlers in Liberia, the McGills became established as one of the most prominent early Americo-Liberian families. Daguerreotypes of the McGill family can be found in the Library of Congress. Members occupied colonial offices, and they are mentioned in the ''African Repository'' magazine published by the American Colonization Society. Immigration to Liberia George R. and Angelina McGill emigrated to Liberia aboard the ''Reaper'' with several members of their family and arrived in Monrovia in February 1831. Shortly after, Angelina died. Some of the McGill family settled at Cape Palmas, south of Monrovia. McGill Drug Store
The McGill Drug Store Museum is a former drug store in McGill, Nevada. It operated from 1915 to 1979. The store closed when the nearby Kennecott Copper mine closed down, with its entire inventory intact, including prescription medication. It has been re-opened as a museum with more than 30,000 items as well as prescription records extending back to 1915. The museum is a resource for investigators of retailing and historical pharmacy practices. History The museum was originally a drug store owned by the McGill Drug Company, who may have acquired the structure from another business, Steptoe Drug Company.
