	Anne Kutka Anne Kutka, aka Anne Kutka McCosh ( 1 Oct 1902, Danbury, Connecticut — 1 Mar 1994 ) was a Northwest American artist. She has several works in the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art collection including ''The Challenger'', and three in the Portland Art Museum including an untitled oil painting referred to as ''House on Cliff'' . Exhibitions of her works have occurred in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Seattle Art Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Anne was one of ten children by John and Susan (Kubicek) Kutka, who had immigrated from what later became Czechoslovakia. She grew up from the age of one in Yonkers, NY. 	David McCosh David John McCosh (1903 Cedar Rapids, Iowa – 1981 Eugene, Oregon) was a Northwest American artist and art instructor. The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art has over 170 of his works in their permanent collection. McCosh graduated from the School of Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) in 1926 and began his teaching career there in 1931. Biography McCosh was born into a Covenanting family in Ayrshire, and studied at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, obtaining his M.A. at the latter, at the suggestion of Sir William Hamilton, for an essay on stoicism. He became a minister of the Church of Scotland in 1834, serving as minister first at Abbey Church in Arbroath and then at Brechin. 	John McCosh John McCosh or John MacCosh or James McCosh ( Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, 5 March 1805 – 18 January / 16 March 1885) was a Scottish army surgeon who made documentary photographs whilst serving in India and Burma. His photographs during the Second Anglo-Sikh War (1848–1849) of people and places associated with the British rule in India (for which he is best known), and of the Second Burmese War (1852–1853), count as sufficient grounds, some historians maintain, to recognise him as the first war photographer known by name. 	McCosh Grist Mill The McCosh Grist Mill is a historic grist mill near Rock Mills in Randolph County, Alabama. The mill was built in the early 1870s, and is the oldest extant stone grist mill in Alabama. It was built by James Eichelburger McCosh, whose grandfather, Jacob Eichelburger, operated earlier mills that were similar to those in his native Pennsylvania. McCosh also owned 500 acres (200 ha) of farmland nearby, and later added a cotton gin to the site. The mill operated until 1958, and was purchased in 1970 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers as part of the West Point Lake reservoir project. The mill sits on the sloped bank of Wehadkee Creek, and is 3.5 stories tall on the stream side and 2.5 stories on the bank side. It is constructed of unfinished stones, however features details such as finished stones as quoins, courses of rectangular stones between the doors and cornice, and half millstones as window and door arches.
