David McClure (artist)
David McClure RSA RSW (20 February 1926 – 20 February 1998) was a Scottish artist and lecturer. He is most well known for his paintings of still lifes, interiors, figures and family portraits as well as his landscape and townscape paintings of Scotland, Italy, Sicily and Spain where he lived and travelled throughout his life. Born in Lochwinnoch in 1926, McClure graduated in the early 1950s from Edinburgh College of Art. In his early career he spent significant periods working in Spain, Italy, Sicily and later Norway. He spent the majority of professional life in Dundee where he lived with his wife and family and taught at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art (now part of the University of Dundee) from 1958 and spent the last two years of his career there as head of painting, a post he took over from his friend, colleague and fellow artist, Alberto Morrocco, before retiring in 1985. Sir John William Maclure, 1st Baronet
Sir John William Maclure, 1st Baronet (22 April 1835 – 28 January 1901), was a British businessman and Conservative politician. Biography Maclure was educated at Manchester Grammar School and Brasenose College, Oxford, but left university without taking a degree due to ill health. He later became manager of the Guardian Insurance Company and was also Secretary of the Cotton Famine Relief Fund during the Lancashire Cotton famine in the early 1860s. He played an important role for the revival of Conservatism in Manchester and served as President of the Conservative Association of South and East Lancashire. In the 1885 general election he unsuccessfully contested Stretford, but was successfully returned for the same constituency in the 1886 general election, and held the seat until his death. Jessica McClure Morales (born March 26, 1986; widely known as "Baby Jessica" in 1987) fell into a well in her aunt's backyard in Midland, Texas, on October 14, 1987, at the age of 18 months. Gary McClure is a former American college baseball coach, formerly serving as head coach of the Austin Peay Governors baseball program. He was named to that position prior to the 1988 season. With 847 wins, McClure is the winningest coach in Austin Peay baseball history, as well as the winningest coach in Ohio Valley Conference baseball history. McClure played two years at Southeastern Community College in Iowa before completing his eligibility at Cumberland. He then completed his degree at Austin Peay, and served as a student assistant coach. With the retirement of then-coach Billy Merkel, McClure was hired as head coach just two years removed from his playing days. Floyd Alonzo McClure (14 August 1897, Shelby County, Ohio – 15 April 1970, Bethesda, Maryland) was an American botanist and plant collector. He was one of the world's leading experts on bamboo and worked in China for 24 years. Biography McClure was educated at Otterbein College from 1914 to 1916. Eric Wayne McClure (December 11, 1978 – May 2, 2021) was an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro for JD Motorsports. Racing career Sprint Cup Series McClure made three career starts in NASCAR's Cup Series. His debut came at Talladega, driving the No. 04 I Can Learn Chevy in 2004.
