Margaret Hill McCarter (May 2, 1860 – August 31, 1938) was an American teacher and novelist. She was the best-known and highest-paid novelist in Kansas at the time. Biography Born Margaret Hill near Carthage, Indiana to Quaker parents Thomas Thornbury Hill and Nancy (Davis), she was educated at public schools in Indiana then at the Quaker school Earlham College. Margaret attended the State Normal School at Terre Haute, Indiana, studying Latin, English and history; earning an A.B. in 1884. She became the principal of the high school in Rensselaer, Indiana, then head of the English department at the Goshen, Indiana high school. In 1888 she was hired to head the English department at Topeka High School in Topeka, Kansas, remaining at that post for the next six years. Willie J. McCarter (born 26 July 1946) is an American retired basketball player. He was a 6'3" (1.90 m) 175 lb (79 kg) guard (basketball), guard. He played at Drake University, averaging 19.9 ppg in three seasons. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 12th pick in the 1969 NBA draft, and played three seasons with the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers. After his NBA career ended in 1972, he became the coach at Harper Creek High School in Battle Creek, Michigan. William McCarter (23 October 1888 – 4 September 1941) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A back pocket player, McCarter made his debut for Geelong in 1913 in round 1 against Richmond at Corio Oval. He did not play from 1916 to 1920 because of war service but was at his best when he returned in 1921, supposedly being named Geelong's club champion. He certainly won such an award in 1923, before retiring the following season. Kyle McCarter (born June 27, 1962) is an American politician from Illinois and former diplomat. He served as the United States Ambassador to Kenya from 2019 to 2021. He previously served as a Republican member of the Illinois Senate from February 2009 to January 2019. Early life McCarter was born in Waco, Texas on June 27, 1962.
