Mayu Pasupati
Mayu Pasupati (born 5 December 1976) is a cricketer originally from Sri Lanka but who played cricket in New Zealand. A fast-medium bowler, he has played for Wellington and Auckland. He made his first-class debut for Auckland in 1997/98 against Otago. His List-A debut for Auckland came in 1998/99 also against Otago. His Twenty20 debut for Auckland came on 20 January 2006 against Northern Districts. He has also played for Wellington City in the Hawke Cup. He was well known for his acrobatic catches and big-hitting style. In the 2002 State Shield one-day final, which Wellington won, Pasupati caught Aaron Redmond out off the bowling of Mark Jefferson. His one-handed take in the outfield was memorable enough to be reported, 15 years later, as "one of the best catches seen on New Zealand soil". Aaron James Redmond (born 23 September 1979) is a former New Zealand international cricketer. He was a member of the Otago cricket team for ten seasons. Redmond is a right-handed batsman who debuted for Canterbury in the 1999/2000 season, playing first-class and list A matches for them. His father is Rodney Redmond, an international cricketer who scored 107 and 56 on debut for New Zealand in 1972/1973 against Pakistan at Auckland. Hawke Cup
The Hawke Cup is a non-first-class cricket competition for New Zealand's district associations. Apart from 1910–11, 1912–13 and 2000–01 the competition has always been on a challenge basis. To win the Hawke Cup, the challengers must beat the holders, either outright or on the first innings in a drawn match, on the holders' home ground. Teams from New Zealand's four main centres, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, have not usually competed for the Hawke Cup, although they did participate in the latter half of the 1990s. They were excluded again from the 2000–01 season. From 2000 to 2010 the team from Hamilton, New Zealand's fourth-largest urban area, was the most successful. Northern Districts Men's Cricket Team
The Northern Districts men's cricket team are one of six New Zealand first-class cricket teams that make up New Zealand Cricket. They are based in the northern half of the North Island of New Zealand (excluding Auckland). They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition, the Ford Trophy domestic one-day competition and the Men's Super Smash T20 competition as the Northern Brave. The T20 team was previously known as the Northern Knights until the 2021–22 season, when both the men's and women's teams were rebranded under the same name.
