Mayors Of Tokyo
This is a list of mayors of Tokyo from 1898 to 1943. Prior to 1898 the Mayor of Tokyo was also the Governor of Tokyo. In 1943, the city's independent institutions were absorbed by the prefectural administration resulting in the cessation of the office of mayor. Most mayors of Tokyo were graduates of Tokyo Imperial University or previously worked at the Home Ministry. Yukio Ozaki
was a Japanese people, Japanese politician of Liberalism, liberal signature, born in modern-day Sagamihara, Kanagawa. Ozaki served in the House of Representatives of the Japanese Diet for 63 years (1890–1953). He is still revered in Japan as the "God of constitutional politics" and the "father of the Japanese Constitution". Biography Ozaki was one of three children of Ozaki Yukimasa and his wife Sadako, who lived in the village of Matano, in the county of Tsukui, in Kanagawa Prefecture, in the Sagami Province, Sagami hills, 35 miles west of Edo (present-day Tokyo). The three Ozaki children were born there—Yukio in 1858, Yukitaka in 1865 and Yukitake in 1866—just as Japan was opening itself up to the western world. Ozaki began his career as a student at Keio University, Keio Gijuku, before becoming chief editor of the Niigata, Niigata, Niigata Shimbun (Niigata Newspaper) at the age of 20. Izawa Takio
was a Japanese politician of the early 20th century. No age 108. Biography Izawa served as Governor of Wakayama, Ehime, and Niigata Prefectures on Honshū, and later became a member of the House of Peers. He was appointed the 10th Governor-General of Taiwan where he served from September 1, 1924 to July 1926. After a trip to Japan for medical reasons in 1926, Izawa was nominated to become Mayor of Tokyo City, a position which he accepted. Tamonogi Keikichi
was a Japanese was a journalist, politician and cabinet minister in Taishō and early Shōwa period Japan. His wife, Tanomogi Koma, was a noted violinist and professor of music at the Tokyo Academy of Music. Early life Tanomogi was born in what is now part of Fukuyama, Hiroshima, and his surname at birth was Inoue. In 1903, he was adopted into the Tanomogi family by marriage. After graduating from the First Higher School in Tokyo, he travelled to the United States for studies, and after his return to Japan found employment with the ''Hōchi Shimbun'' newspaper in 1896. In 1899 he founded his own newspaper, the ''Chōnō Shimbun'', but returned to the ''Hōchi Shimbun'' in 1901 and was instrumental in the expansion of that firm in a major national newspaper with increased business coverage, hiring Japan’s first woman journalist, and the issuing of an evening edition in 1906.
