The Mayor of Skopje ('' mk, Градоначалник на Скопје'') is the city mayor who is representing North Macedonia, North Macedonia's capital city Greater Skopje and Greater Skopje#Administrative divisions, all of its municipalities. Also, the mayor's decisions are confirmed or rejected by the City Council of Skopje ('' mk, Совет на Град Скопје''). The coat of arms of the City of Skopje ( mk, Грб на Скопје) is an emblem in the form of a renaissance shield, depicting the Šar Mountains, the Skopje Fortress, the Vardar river and the Stone Bridge, all important landmarks of the city and North Macedonia as a whole. Replacement proposals The coat of arms of Skopje has been categorized as "near-heraldic" in the Macedonian Heraldic Society's review of municipal symbols in Macedonia due to being a landscape composition with several charges. The society had suggested a heraldic revision of the symbol, which resulted in several alternative proposals. Koce Trajanovski ( mk, Коце Трајановски) is a Republic of Macedonia, Macedonian politician. He is a member of the opposition party VMRO-DPMNE. He served as the Mayor of Skopje from 2009 to 2017. Before he was the mayor of Skopje, he was a Member of Parliament and mayor of the Gazi Baba Municipality. He was born in 1956 in Skopje. He studied at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and graduated in 1980. In 1981, he started work at MTZ – Hepos where he was in charge of the computer management area.
